If you’re worries, go see your local optometrist, like Specsavers or OPSM. Call ahead and explain what happened and you will be able to get a (likely bulked billed) appointment with an optometrist who can recommend next options if necessary.

You could also go to GP or ED of hospital but it will take longer to be seen at the hospital and the GP will probably just refer you to someone else.

  • Lucky it wasn't a laser or gun!

According to Yahoo Answers, you have cancer now.

If you're actually worried, I think you should continue ask random forums on the internet rather than seeking medical advice from professionals.

  • If symptoms still persist after 24 hours consult your preferred medical professional.

  • reset it 4 times and should be fine

  • everyone knows you will only see jesus if you stare at the sun, not a flashlight

    look at it this way

    you're lucky you didn't purchase a gun.

this is why they put warning labels on things

  • Suggest you put cold compresses on your eyes (not a medical doctor though). I had a similar experience when I watched an eclipse shadow reflected on a window - I suggest people don't do that either. I had the "image" for quite a while afterwards but it righted itself. I had a REALLY BIG scare though, thought I had done some real damage. Keep us posted.

  • Sit in a dark room for a couple of hours and if still worried, yeah go see OPSM. Or at least give them a call and see what they advise.

Call up local optometrist and see if they have OCT technology to test the health of your macula, and book an eye test. You might have Solar Retinopathy, which is what people get if they stare at the sun.

post on ozbargain forums and wait 2-3 days for advice from a superior amateur.

definitely complain to the place you purchased about the light, give them a 1-star rating.

hope your next purchase isnt a firearm.

best wishes with the healing process.

      that, genuinely, made me LOL.

"Hey honey, there seems to be something stuck in the barrel - you pull the trigger whilst I check it out".

    LMAO

    I dont see the problem.

  • So if you bought a gun and it wouldn't fire, you would look down the barrel and pull the trigger? WTF man?!

  • A person with photic retinopathy may notice an impairment in their vision, for example a spot that does not go away after a reasonable recovery time, or blurring. They may also have eye pain or headaches.

Repeat the same action in the other eye to even them out

… be very glad you don't have a gun I guess.

Edit: I'm not an original or creative person…

  • It's the next day, Levathian. Did things go back to normal or are you being treated for eye damage?

    • Went back to normal after a few hours

      • Glad to hear it. As I indicated above it can be very scary when you think you have done serious damage to your eyesight. I would still mention this next time you have an eye test so they can double check the condition of your eyes, the damage might be a bit more subtle.

Why don't you next try finding a gas leak with a lighted match and let us know how you got on.
