Fujifilm XF 23mm F2 Lens $479.97 C&C (+ $10 Shipped) @ Ted's Cameras eBay

Great lens. Can't find it cheaper. Ted's is actually cheaper than Digidirect for once, and then there's the 20% off on top of that to beat camerawarehouse and camerapro. Not sure why and not complaining.

This lens goes for $450ish 2nd hand.

  • Wish I took this instead of a 35mm. I feel cramped with my lens. Any reliable place to swap lenses?

    • Not sure there's a place to swap. just buy this 23 and sell the 35. Facebook groups are good or gumtree. plenty of people want that 50mm equivalent. It's not for me either though. I used to walk around with a 20mm equivalent only.

      • I used to have an EOS M with a 22mm and loved the distance. I also currently have a 56mm f/1.2 that I prefer using when taking portraits. I'm itching to get this instead or a kit lens 18-55

        • Yep. Most would agree the 35 and 56 are too close a focal length to be worth changing over sometimes. I might end up getting the 50mm F2 eventually but I've got some old Nikon gear that I can use with an adapter. If they'd just updated that 56 I'd be getting that instead.

        • @mit:

What adapter do you use to get your Nikon gear onto your Fuji?

        • @aragornelessar: https://www.kentfaith.com/KF06.109_nikon-g-to-fuji-x-mount-a…

All manual though. There are more expensive auto versions but I'll probably just get the 50 eventually or switch to Sony when I get bored or when they make smaller FF lenses.

    • Really depending on what type of photography you are shooting. I owned the 23mm since day one of launch. Found it really useless especially it’s not too wide or not too close to objects. Only thing great is, if you only wanted one lens, 23mm is ok decent. If you already owned a 35, 23 is just slightly wider, unless you totally hate the 35 just sell it. I would say go for wider angle like 14mm and pair it with your 35mm. If you have 23 already, get a 56.

Was looking to buy one of these until I saw a review mentioning this is not sharp at F2. If possible, test it out in-store before purchasing. Was hoping it was a problem specific to that copy but the comments for the video seem to confirm the problem.

    • Yeap, same as most of the lenses especially at the first stop. That’s why the f1.4 version is better than f2 version in terms of sharpness. (But it’s a heavy lens). Similarly, at f1.4 is not sharp too.

    • I bought it for the size, WR, better focusing speed and price. The F1.4 is double the price unfortunately.

There is also a close focusing issue. Unless you go comparing side by side photos you'd never know the difference. So in real world use it's not a big deal. I think the extra stop is a bigger deal. Indoor, natural light photographers (ie. weddings, etc) really need that.

  • The 23mm f/1.4 is the king in Fuji XF, wish I had the money.
