Nudie Average Joe jeans 50% off (now $120) + others - That Store (Bondi Junction, NSW)

140

Was wandering around Bondi Junction Westfield today when I saw that That Store (a jeans store) was still having their sales. Was then very pleasantly surprised when I saw they had various Nudie jeans for 50% off:

Average Joe - $120 (that's what I bought) in dark blue and medium blue, down from $240 (they had 29,30 and 31 waist left when I was there earlier)
Grim Tim, Thin Finn & Slim Jim - $130 to $160 each

The Average Joe price was fantastic and I bought a pair immediately (see pic). They had a few other ok deals (2 pairs of Cheap Monday Jeans for $80 was the other deal I remembered from memory, and random assorted Edwin, Acne and other jeans for $100-$160) but the Nudie jeans deals stood way above everything else.

IMO Nudie jeans are pretty much the best in the business for quality, fit and longevity, and while they are a bit overpriced in Australia normally, $120 is a steal. Hope someone else benefits from this deal (and please don't tell us how Kmart $20 jeans are just as good as these - they're not…)

  • IMO Nudie jeans are pretty much the worst in the business for quality and longevity,

Good price if you are after nudies.

I prefer japanese selvage denim personally..

Good deal, i have the same cut myself for a more relaxed fit.
But i agree as above, Nudie has good fits and styles but the quality is abit lacking. They aren't terrible by any means but yeah the denim is average.

  • I have a fair few brands of jeans and I like Nudie the most by far, certainly more than Edwin, Evisu, Levis etc. - good quality in the context of not being too thick (Evisu - their denim traps heat in my experience) or thin (Levis, Edwin), the stitching is solid, fit is not too skinny (i.e. emo) or baggy (i.e. strikes a good balance between being respectable for work with a blazer and able to be dressed down with a tshirt), fade of the denim is consistent, denim softens up slightly over time (becoming more comfortable) but not too much (i.e. lose the fit) etc. Also, the price for them when the sales are on are pretty decent - I don't want to spend $150+ for jeans.

I'm interested in what other ppl say about their quality though - what's wrong with their denim? So I can look out for it long-term.

    • check out japanese brand like Samurai/Flathead, then you'll know how bad nudie is (in terms of quality).

but then you got what you paid. japanese brand jeans costs more than 150$.

      • Never heard of either brand but I know good quality Japanese jeans cost $350+ in Japan when I was there two years ago, so they must be even more expensive here. That's just out of my budget (and probably most ppl's budget), even if it is better quality (and as mentioned I'm v. happy with Nudie) - would much rather spend it on suits and leather shoes!

        • I have. Samurai/Flathead/Studio D'Artisan/Oni/Eternal… etc.. all the go.

    • Quality wise, they are prone to crotch rips. Nothing a sewing machine can fix though, but yeah its a common issue (just google).
I think some cheaper decent denim you can check out, maybe Naked and Famous (they have them at That Store). APC denim you can find at Incu in Galleries Victoria in the CBD.

Edit: By the way, did they have sales on Naked and Famous denim?

      • Correct. The croth are pretty bad.. I've ripped the slimjim after 6months of medium use. They weren't even worn that tight.

        • Ok cool, I've had my pair of Average Joes for 2 years now and they're as good as new (including the crotch), except the colour for obvious reasons. They're not a really tight fit like the Slim Jims, and I wear them 1-2 times a week, so that helps I suppose. See how we go.

      • my nudies broke pretty quickly

levis are pretty good for longevity imho. i still have a pair of my dads levis from the 80s :)

      • Didn't see any, but I wasn't looking closely - saw the Nudies and didn't bother looking at much else. Saw Edwin, Dr Heuss (?), Cheap Mondays and Acne from memory, no Superfines unfortunately (I specifically looked for those).

  • great deal, how long is this sale on for?

    • I think they're trying to sell out various jeans for new season stock, so probably for at least another fortnight - they had a fair few pairs of Nudies and I know their sales from previous years lasted for a while. Just give them a call.

thats cheap, does anyone know if the same sale is on in Melbourne?

  • Called the Chatswood store, the sale is also on at Chatswood and others, but its unknown how long the sale will be on for.
