Sad village not included but a good deal is you don't live in VIC/TAS!

  • +2

"Only available at Event, Greater Union, BCC cinemas" = Almost completely useless for VIC/TAS residents (unless Moonlight Cinemas is your thing).

  • Got a couple, thanks OP!

  • so only standard cinema so excluding vmax ?

    • Usually there is a small surcharge fee which you pay. Not sure if applicable with these vouchers though.

      • yeah agree with the surcharge but yeah didn't mention anything if this was possible onto these vouchers

        • Given that previous evouchers worked - i see no issues with this one either. Good luck! :)

        • +1

Yes you can upgrade to Vmax using these eVouchers, usually a $4 surcharge.

  • Monday to Thursday - meh

    • Best time to see a movie.

    • I was able to use these vouchers on a Sunday as well.

Using an event login with the Student code is still the way to go. Hasn't been an issue for me as you just purchase online and then go to the self scan counter.

    • Student membership may be cheaper option (or about the same) . Cbf with the math atm, but student = $11 for me , then I think it is 200 points every ticket purchase, (maybe 100) then a bonus ticket at either 600 or 800 points.

It's $8 at the ones I go to. My bad as I had assumed all were the same

how does this work? first we buy these evouchers and then we book the sessions via event cinemas' website?

  • +1

eventcinemas' website is terrible. it doesnt show the sessions when i click on the times and tickets on the right corner.

Best to buy the E vouchers and instead of booking online and paying the fee just rock up to the movies with the E-voucher, I do that all the time in Goldclass saves me $3.50 and you still get to choose seats and get cinebuzz points.

    • Thanks for the tip

    • how early in advance are you allowed to do this though? Usually i like to book online to secure a good seat

      • I wait about 1-2 weeks before it quiet downs then before choosing my session jump online and see how many seats are already taken then head in 10 mins before it starts.

Can I buy these tickets with event cinemas gift cards?

    • Vouchers can't be purchased with GC

  • Awesome OP. Got 4 for a family school holiday movie 🍿!

  • Just note although the heading says "Telstra Family & Friends Offer" it does say that that Telstra customers can purchase.

Further, terms and conditions state "GUO may subject eVouchers to verification and security checks in its absolute discretion. GUO reserves the right to cancel any eVoucher purchased or on sold fraudulently. "

    Just keep that in mind.

    • If they cancel it they have to give you a refund.

I was paying education Adobe subscription (where you don't need an .edu email) for 2 years before they asked to verify my education status. I told them I was, but couldn't prove it. They told me, they'd have to change me to regular pricing, so I told them to cancel. Then they let me keep paying student rates. 3 years later, still paying education pricing.

  • I got the same email. The not valid for VIC only applies to the gold class vouchers afaik.

  • Standard Off Peak eVouchers are only valid for use between 30 August to 31 October 2018. Not valid for advance ticket sales after 31 October 2018.

Surcharges apply to upgrade the cinema experience to Vmax and 3D, or for sessions from 5pm Friday or Saturday

  • Do these vouchers give you full cinebuzz points or half like Telstra thanks?

  • -1

    Isn't Event always $8 for Mon-Thurs before 5pm?

    • Depends where you live

  • How this works:

    • Min 2 purchase ($16)
    • Online booking fee: $3.50 ($19.50)
    • VMax / 3D / Friday - Saturday peak Surcharge: $3 each ($25.50)

You may as well have purchased $12.25 eVouchers

    • -1

      Please explain

      • There is no booking fee for booking regular Telstra thanks tickets, and they can be used for Friday-Saturday up to 5pm-Sunday as well.

        • Also, there's the fairly significant benefits of not having to commit in advance to using the ticket within this limited validity window, and also to being able to buy just a single ticket at a time (for when an extra person invites themselves along, or if you are just like me and watch movies alone).

        • @josho9: yes, but that's only if you have access to Telstra Thanks.

        • @ozzbargainer: I'm not sure if you need an active mobile service to use it (you don't for optus rewards), but if you walk into a Telstra store they can often give you a free SIM card which you can activate.

  • Will this work With Bollywood movies?

    • +11

      Head wooble “yes”

  • Thanks! Bought the GC ones.

  • Would this be $8+$4 ($12) for Saturday nights?! =O I can finally go movies on Saturday nights and not try to go for the 4:30 sessions lol!

  • +9

Excellent. I can now watch Crazy Rich Asians like the real crazy cheap Asian that I am.

    • Such a good movie…
      For a rom com…

  • -1

Crazy Asian bitches has high rating on rotten and box office at USA

  • So you pay about $3 in fees to book in advance online but if you take the voucher straight to the cinema, there is no fee?

    • Yes

But online booking fee is $1.40 and you get 25 bonus CineBuzz points if you book online

      • Ok.

But you only get 25 points and it needs 600 to redeem a regular movie. So you'll make 24 bookings online (costing $33.60 in extra booking fees), just to save $8 on a regular ticket.

        • Just clarified it's not $3… Still Online is an option if there is no cinema close to you and Event Cinemas can't book tickets for a different location. Also can change session and seats anytime after booking.

I use my points for Saturday evening sessions which is always more than $8.

  • is it expired? link is working but nothing in there to order.

  • Site is down?

There is nothing on this page
    https://giftshop.eventcinemas.com.au/Category/TelstraFamilya…

  • +6

The initial page is broken, use this URL instead: https://giftshop.eventcinemas.com.au/Category/2018TelstraTha…

  • Link not working?

  • Ordered two Gold class for a August 30 movie and it says both voucher codes are invalid on the website? Any others experience the same?

    • +1

It takes a while after receiving the vouchers before it works at the website. Happened to me with the $8 ones. After trying continuously for 20-30 mins, it worked

  • def can't seem to add to cart now ?

  • Can't seem to buy any, even on the new link.. maybe it's expired?

  • Anyone have a new link old link is broken, there’s a new link floating around somewhere
