Harvey Norman had them for $99!, the prices on these have come down and are coming down… its a decent deal but not the lowest!

    • +1

      Harvey's weren't USB 3.0 though!

    • That was USB 2.0
      This is USB 3.0

      • -3

True but since it's unlikely to be a faster drive, the interface is the only difference and itself a commodity item. What's the price difference between USB2 and USB3 interface on a million product run, I bet a a few cents. So, increase in value and hence the price is determined by perception rather than cost.

        • Hahaha.. I got negged for explaining the difference between price by perception and price by cost.

        • -1

@AxelF, No, not really. USB2 is slower than the physical drive interface, much slower. USB3 is much faster than the physical drive interface. Therefore even if they had the same drive inside, USB3 would allow that drive to run much faster, since the bottleneck will be the drive interface, rather than USB2 being the bottleneck. +1 neg.

        • Fruitcake, can/did you even read what I wrote? I didn't write anything about performance.
