If apply via someone's referral link, you get 50k points + additional 10k points + referee gets 30k points. Everyone wins.

So make an arrangement with refree to share 50% of points and its better deal than current one.

Really hard to recommend signing up for this unless it becomes 100,000 points again.

    • If you're referring to past Amex Explorer deal, bonus was for 100,000 Gateway Points. That converts to 75,000 Velocity, so this deal is close.

It might be actually on pair, as if I understand T&C correctly, Return Flight Benefit would be booked as standard Saver ticket, which means that would add some additional miles (and status credits) to Velocity account.

On the other hand 100,000 Gateway Points from the old deal converts to 75,000 Krisflyer - and Singapore beats Virgin. :)

Old offer had 100k velocity points. It was almost an year back though.

      • The offer in Jan 2018 was for 100,000 Velocity points. Annual fee was $375 etc. Same deal as above but more points. I just checked my records and I was given the 100,000 points on 19 Feb 2018 into my Velocity account.

        I don't recall this though:
        * Earn 100 Velocity Status Credits when you spend a minimum of $50,000 on eligible purchases in a membership year

      • I signed up to Velocity AMEX in July 2017 and got 100,000 velocity bonus points. waiting for it to come back so my partner can sign up :)

        • Sorry, I missed that offer - yes, 100,000 Velocity beats 70,000 Velocity points. :)

  • where is the best place to check my credit rating?

  • Does anyone know if the return flight has to be booked in the card holders name or can it be used by a spouse or another family member?

      It can booked for anyone.

      • Thanks oh kind one ;)

So, you pay for the points?

100,000 points are worth $1,000 and the flights are worth whatever you can get them for. I have used my free flights tor a return flight to Brisbane over XMAS. No issues with booking but as I had to do it separately for my wife (as she applied for the card at the same time as me), I could not link our flight together so I had to call Virgin directly to make sure she got a seat next to me (I'm Gold while she is pleb).
