Telecube no longer offering NBN

The purpose of this letter is to inform you that Telecube will no longer be offering NBN services from 4th September 2018, after that date the NBN services are in danger of being disconnected. Please act promptly and arrange for a new provider as soon as possible.

We understand that this news is short notice and we also acknowledge the importance of your internet connection. As a result we have made arrangements with two Internet Service Providers that we think are a good fit with your service. Below are the prices and links to their respective sites.

=============================================================
** ABB (Aussie Broadband) **

Aussie Broadband is pleased to offer Telecube customers switching over to us $10 off for the first six months on any unlimited plan, or $5 off for the first six months on any of our other plans.

We know changing providers can be stressful so we aim to make it as painless as possible – online applications will usually see your service switch across in anywhere between 15 minutes and a couple of hours. Please note that if you want to port across your phone number, switching across will take longer.

Aussie Broadband offers all-Australian support, no connection fees and no lock-in contracts (so if you don't love us in the first month, you're free to leave).

To take up this offer, you need to sign up at the Aussie Broadband website www.aussiebroadband.com.au or call our friendly team on 1300 880 905 and use the following promo code at the checkout: telecube

This offer is only available to current Telecube customers and will expire on 31 August 2018.

** Siptalk **

Siptalk are offering two speed tiers with unlimited data. As an incentive they will add a credit to your account for any unused days on your old Telecube service.

  • 50/20 unlimited $75/month
    -100/40 unlimited $95/month

Please log into your Siptalk account at https://manage.siptalk.com.au/myaccount/services/addnew/nbn/ and you can add a service there.

Thank you for your past business and we wish you all the best for the future.

Kind Regards,
John Matich

  • I got cutoff as well since Saturday, without email, same as when they price hike! My nature thought directs me to ozb to get info and i found this forum….

  • +1

I just got cutoff today. Unlike others, I never received an email notification from telecube. Regardless, I switched to Flip TV two days ago and the connection is still pending. Thankfully, one of my neighbours has an open wifi connection for the meantime!

    • just keep using your neighbors Wifi connection then?

      • I'm not receiving a strong signal. My Nexus 5x connects but the iPhone 7 plus doesn't.

    • I applied on 30/8/18 with fliptv, calling them every day and they have the same answer wait for 24-48 hrs. Still no connrction.

  • Disconnected today too and didn’t have another provider organised as was expecting it to go on the 4th. Thinking flip for the next 6 months.

  • +1

Telecube cut off early Sunday morning . Signed up with https://www.tangerinetelecom.com.au $59 month 50/20 unlimited. Connected and up running in 4 hours on a Sunday !! Download speeds 46 mbps in peak … pretty smooth t/f , very happy so far …..

    • I hope you used their $20 off first month coupon telecube20 !!

  • +1

I just got cutoff today, wasn't it supposed to be 4th? Still chasing up my refund money. WTF Telecube

    • Still chasing up my refund money.

it wont happen… unless you can do something like a CC or paypal dispute, they wont be sending any refunds now they in administration

  • Right, this just pisses me off. First the rubbish with telecube, getting cut off prior to the "end of service", signed up with abb, provisioned before the date I asked for and whoah my 50/20 is like dial up. Maybe I'll just suck it up and go with Telstra. Ick.

    • What speeds are you getting?

      • <10Mbit down last night, back to ~50M this morning, upload is still around 2-4Mbit. In Hobart, Tassie.

Well maybe I shouldn't complain too much as a mate tried to sign up yesterday and got told off until next year. See how it goes I suppose, but what's the point of paying premium if the service isn't there.

        • +1

It'd be worth opening a ticket with their support.

        • @Stix:

It'd be worth opening a ticket with their support.

this… they dont get good wraps on their service for nothing
Also, check your CVC graph for the POI you're connected to see if there were any issues
          https://www.aussiebroadband.com.au/cvc-graphs/

looks they were pretty close to max around 9pm

and talk of upgrades in the coming weeks on whirlpool

        • It could be your NTD playing up. Unplug Ethernet cable from uni d ports, power cycle NTD, wait 5 minutes then re connect Ethernet cable into NTD.

Happened to me and that fixed it

        • -1

@Stix: thanks, did that but needs monitoring which is fine. Coming from 100/40 telecube to 10/3 (on a 50/20 fttp plan) is a show stopper. Could have been a once off, but not the greatest first impression either

Also preferred contact method is via phone!? It's like calling a bank and waiting 20-50mins on hold. Not happy, I don't get the hype about ABB at all.

        • @decr: Good things come to those who wait. :)

        • @decr:

Also preferred contact method is via phone!? It's like calling a bank and waiting 20-50mins on hold.

Have you tried calling… Be pretty confident those won't be the wait times.

        • @SBOB: Yes, did today, wait time was 18:20 or thereabouts. Neg away.

        • @SBOB: yeah I agree with that and I'm giving them a benefit of a doubt, see how it goes but with all the hype going around it hasn't really been a pleasant experience so far. It could be this or that and as much as I hate to say this I was better off with telecube.

    • I'm in NW Tas. With Telstra and not regretting it.

      • What plan/$ if you don't mind me asking?

        • 50/20 on fttn. I only get 30/9 but no qualms paying $99 a month. I was on Telstra ADSL and remember what happened to other providers when we had basslink outage. We use a lot if international sites and use the net lot, so I'm happy to pay for quality connection. And yes, I know Telstra is a pain in the are. Had to get ombudsman involved in the past to fix a problem.

For those joining exetel, email [email protected] with subject line telecube, to get your service activation expedited.

    • i also called this morning and was told it should be activated within 24 hours. i signed up on saturday.

      when did you sign up?

      • Signed up on Sunday. Have received a email confirmation from the provisioning team that activation to be expected within 24-48 hours.

        • ok mate. exciting news.

just received an email from exetel that my connection is active. this is for fttp.

        • @Marbel: Nice! I beleive fttn will take a little longer :(

        • @Fatbo1:

I've got sync on my FTTN today, no email received with log in details yet though.

Had to ring them again this morning as they were waiting for my phone to port as were saying would lose the number, but we got over that hurdle eventually (I guess they thought it was a PSTN?) and they said should be provisioned with 24 to 48 hours.

          So almost there…

Edit: 20 mins later got my txt/email with login details too, all good!

        • I was expecting an early cut-off and had good experience churning for FTTN in Perth to Exetel. Just have to explain to Sales and then Provisioning team. Got connected the next day. Thumbs up to Exetel. Was thinking Flip but didn't dare take the risk with cheap RSPs after Buzz and TC.

  • With telecube now going belly up, do we still need to cancel our service with them when signing up with another ISP or it will automatically cancel itself?

    • +2

No need to cancel with TC, and even if you wanted to to, how can you when they will not respond to emails or phone calls?

      • Thanks billy_bob. Agree with what you said. I emailed them last week re my credit (prepayment), heard nothing back.

        • Same here.

        • Contact your credit card bank and dispute the charge. With American Express it was quick and easy and only took 5 minutes.

        • @Dacs:
did u go through chat or submitted online request?

        • @mmd: I phoned them

  • So I've decided to go with Skymesh, price matching the exetel $54.99 50/20 500GB plan. No modem included but also no contract so i'm happy :)

May take a few days from now to activate though, I'll update here when it does.

    • Do they give you a static IP for free as well?

    • What's the advantage of Skymesh vs Exetel?

      • Main advantage is no contract for the same price. Also, anecdotally Skymesh seem to have better user experience and speeds than exetel, but a new company acquired them recently so we'll see.

I was connected with 2 business days, speeds generally above 40/10 on the 50/20 plan which is more than enough for me.

    • I signed up with skymesh on 31 Aug 2018 (price match with Exetel $54.90) and still not connected. I was told it can be done today or tomorrow but no guarantee. I cancelled my order with Skymesh and go with Tangerine (first month @39.90 and 59.90 for next 6 months). My connection is FTTP and they said it will be connected in next 6 hours or so.

  • +1

Signed up on thursday with fliptv, still no connection, everyday i call them and they says will take 24-48 hrs. Its already been like morethen 74 hrs. One of the staff said i am on provisioning stage and they dont do provision everyday. Lucky i have Lebara 20 gb net on hand.

    • +2

I signed up to FlipTV last Wednesday night and got connected this morning (FTTN). Hopefully you're up soon.

      • +1

Same. Happy with the speeds so far

      • Lucky u, i m still waiting… Just talked to them and again same answer 24-48hrs for http

  • +1

Telecube owners should be fined, not a single email stating cutting service, but can send email to pay. I just saw this and tought I was having a technical issue with the nbn. Filed dispute with bank as just paid last week, I dont think they had best intentions with customers.

  • PayPal dispute initiated. Ordered new service with Exetel on Sunday. Hopefully it won't take long.
Very disappointing end to what seemed like a decent business.

    • I did the same.

    • Got connected on Wednesday (delay likely due to provisioning) and have called support regarding sync speed. They sent out an NBN tech who fixed corrosion with the copper and I'm now getting the expected speed (44/16). Very happy with the service from Exetel.

  • FWTW, I called TANGERINE at 9am yesterday to sign up and I was back up and running by 2pm.

The lady on the phone was very helpful and I did a speed test last night during the peak period and got 42/18 which I'm pretty happy about.

I'm based in Erskineville Sydney and FTTN/B

Hope this information can help some on the fence about TANGERINE.

    • I would like to just update this for anyone still thinking of heading to Tangerine.

      AVOID.

What started off as a great peak period speeds as progressively gotten worse over the last two weeks

Yesterday was the last straw when I was using the internet at 9:30ish and was getting speeds between 1-3MB.

I'm moving away from them today as my 14 day trial period ends today. Even if I was getting 20MB during peak periods I would of been happy to stay.

Really wish they were the real deal as I'm sick of researching providers.

If anyone knows a good provider at 50/20 for under $60 please let me know.

  • got Tangerine for myself as well.
Now need to figure out how to get a refund from telecube!

  • Hey Ozbargainers,

I'm still receiving the automated email regarding the monthly billing from Telecube despite the company now in liquidation:

The monthly rollover day is approaching for your NBN serviced detailed below.

    Username: #########
    Plan Speed: 100Mbps
    Plan Allowance: 500GB
    Monthly Cost: $70.00
    Rollover Day: 11th September 2018

Please ensure there are funds in your account to cover the charges on the rollover day.

For your convenience, your current account balance is: $0.00

    Telecube Network Alerts,
Please do not reply to this email, the address is not monitored.

Do I just ignore this or ask the bank to block?

    • I would definitely be notifying your bank to revoke authorization of Direct Debit by Telecube.

      • +1

My bank says that they cannot block payments on credit card, because it is made using the credit card's details. They would have to issue a new card.

        • Yes that's exactly what CBA just told me. Guess I just have to get a new card issued. Annoying though as it's got other things linked.

        • +2

@LLCOOLJ: I don't want to get a whole new card for this. Supposedly, Telecube has stopped all automated payments. Perhaps they just haven't stopped the emails.

        • @Make it so: highly likely nothing will happen but they've just stung me too many times making me paranoid…

    • I've got my roloover on the same day as yours and also don't want to get a new credit card issued. Has anybody had their monthly payment been charged to their card after the telecube ending service email was sent?

  • FTTN/Perth
I rang and ordered Exetel yesterday about 12 . Line was syncing at 5am . Got email with pw/user at 1pm this afternoon so pretty much bang on 12 hours .
I originally tried signing up online with the $20 off link but that seems to be broken .

    • I have the same issue with $20 email. I have phoned them and they suggest me to forward that email to [email protected] and ask to credit to your account. I have sent the email, but no response yet. Will follow up later today.

  • Quick update, I still got the balance notification email everyday, my outstanding balance was there yesterday but turn to 0.0 today, not sure if they transferred my VOIP to Siptalk with this balance. How I can check?

  • I signed up with skymesh on 31/8/2018 (price match with Exetel $54.90) and still not connected (5/92018). I was told it can be done today or tomorrow but no guarantee. I cancelled my order with Skymesh and go with Tangerine (first month @39.90 and 59.90 for next 6 months). My connection is FTTP and they said it will be connected in next 6 hours or so.

Update: Singed up today at 11:30 AM and my internet is connected and ready to go at 3:58 PM. I am very happy with their fast internet connection and speed is very fast atm @43.9 mbps. In about 4 hours, my ineterenet is connected.

I used to be a Skymesh user before Telecube, But the company is not the same as before.

If your conncection is FTTP and want to get connected faster, GO with Tangerine.

    • Should've done referral deal. Extra $5 for you and $25 for referrer.

      • Does not work with the promo (59.90 for first 6 months).

        • Where does it say that?

        • @TarquinOliverNimrod: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/399912

Please note that this offer cannot be used in conjunction with the Refer a Friend codes listed below as per Refer a Friend T's and C's(tangerinetelecom.com.au). After you are connected you are more than welcome to share your unique referral code and take advantage of this offer.

        • @currentfad: that's for the $20 discount of the first month. the 59.90 for 6 months has been long running, even now

        • @TarquinOliverNimrod: Try for yourself and screenshot the referral code applying to the deal :)

        • @currentfad: oh wow you were right

  • I Just got an email from the Creditors

    Dear Sir/Madam

Please find attached the latest report to creditors on the file of Telecube Pty Ltd.

You can lodge Proofs of Debt at any time and, when meetings are pending, Proxy Forms and Voting Slips from our File Information Page on our webpage.

  • Does anyone have trouble re-using My Republic modem on Exetel's FTTN connection?
Mine seems can't detect the VDSL signal which is quite strange.

    • If it's not receiving sync, then it's not a modem problem.
More likely either you have not yet been provisioned yet or they have made a mistake in provisioning

      • I think the same, as Exetel should only authorise my connection via pppoe, the DSL signal is more like an infrastructure from NBN. However I do not have another modem to verify this, and it used to work with Telecube no problem, nobody touched the wire since then.
Thanks, will call them to find out.

        • Well it could still be a modem problem, if the modem has magically buggered itself smack on the changeover.

  • I just got an email stating my monthly rollover is approaching (13th), please ensure you have credit in your account. For the full amount !!!

WTF ?! I have been without a telecube service since last Saturday (1st)! God damn I am furious.

  • +1

CBA just accepted my dispute and returning my $60.

    Good one CBA.

  • Has anyone got a refund from Telecube. I just paid another month 2 days before I got the email from them and they seem to be ignoring my emails to them.

  • Changed over to FlipTV decent speed and no dropouts so far.
A little problem is with the country my connection is from.. All my speed test shows my location being in USA, google searches are directed to .com, ebay is to .com.. Also some restrictions to some aussie sites because I'm not in the correct region, Netflix coming up with US content which is a bonus.
Did FlipTV set up my account wrong?
Ip check is pointing to a data center in US called Multacom..
    Any ideas?

  • +2

I just received a refund from PayPal for my most recent Telecube payment (I raised a dispute/claim). I’d made the payment only 2 days before the email notification.

    • +1

Awesome to hear! Hopefully I get mine too!

  • +2

Just got my $50 credit back from 28 Degrees after putting a charge-back in on the day we received the cancellation email from Telecube. Fairly painless which was good.

    • That url… 168 million in debt!

  • Looks like the make it right offer was telecube's last-ditch effort to stay solvent.

31 July 2018: Mr Burness had a telephone call with Mr Pititto to discuss the broad overview of the company and the financial position of the Company.

Mr Burness is a partner at Worrells
Mr Pititto is the accountant for the company

    source: https://files.fm/u/eucpt7qz

  • Chargeback approved =D

  • Just got my PayPal disputed approved and got the full payment back for the month that I prepaid

  • Has anyone got the chargeback approved by Amex yet?

Btw, I am FTTB (apartment) and currently with ABB. If I go to Exetel/Skymesh (seems ppl's favourite here), will I expect down time for days? Or will it be only hours for FTTB (took few hours for Telecube to ABB)?

Which one better - Exetel or Skymesh?

    • FTTB, go with TPG. 100Mbps for $60

      • ?? I dont see it in the website.. link pls?

      • Most FTTB connections do not have access to TPG FTTB

        • Yeah true but op may be able to get it
