Even $200 seems a hell of a lot for a remote

  • +2

Price beat at office works .

  • -3

    Dang, I just bought 10 @ $499 each.

    • buy another 10 and return with original 499 receipt :P

      • +4

I can't return them. I bought them from a door-to-door salesman who wooed me with his charming smile. Gil, I think his name was.

        • +5

oh good on you for helping out ol' Gil! maybe his wife won't leave him now that he's bringin in some green!

          oh wait she's with Fred

        • +6

          @b0rat:
No, wait, don't put Fred on the phone! Oh, hi Fred.

  • Officeworks doesn't have anything in store and refuse price match.

    • +1

My work colleague got one today price matched from officeworks $190 pick up.

    • +1

I bought one yesterday from Officeworks for 190

    • +2

Read the comments in the previous deal.

It appears a few were successful price matching Officeworks (in-store and by phone) and JB Hi-Fi.

  • +1

    Is this with the base?

    • +1

The one my colleague got from officeworks today came with the base.

      • Do you know which store did he got it from?

        • +1

Officeworks Chadstone Victoria but i think there's none left there now.

        • +1

@drezy: I was going to say Preston, Victoria as they had one after I left but look like that;s gone. Fitzroy still has limited stock according to the website. Box Hill and Kew East too.

      • I don't see a version without the base as the base seems to send all the commands?

        • +1

I just got the last one from OW Highpoint!

  • +1

But with hdmi CEC I haven't used a harmony in about 6 years. The AVRs remote does pretty much everything. To buy or not to buy.

    • +4

With a Harmony Hub for 1/3 of the price and a phone, you have all this functionality and more.

  • How is the quality compared to the 650?

My 650 is getting a bit worn, half the buttons have lost there writing, a button is missing, have had to do so repairs/mods to glue alfoil to buttons to fix contact issues.

    Functionality wise it is great.

    • +1

Mine is about 2 years old and still working great, and looking great (battery works fine too)

It has also survived two kids under 8YO, so its taken a beating!

    • I was going to get a new one but that did the trick, restored a few failing/failed buttons. Working like new now.

  • Why would/should I buy one of these, to replace my 650?

    • If you don’t need it, you shouldn’t get it.

I had a 650 in my bedroom but this is pretty amazing in my living room because it does so so much more.

      • Like what?

  • +1

Been calling around and no one so far has has stock. Some are closed now so gonna try tomorrow morning. Good price!

  • Does this include the harmony hub?

    • +2

      As mentioned above, yes

Who the (profanity) would pay $200 for a remote control?

  • +2

I never thought I'd pay $200 for a remote (even marked down from $499).

But Logitech sucked me in years ago with a $50 deal on an awesome all in one remote. I was stoked to be able to turn on TV, console or DVD or XBMC device all to proper inputs and settings with a single click on the remote.

I eventually got the next model up, and then picked up this model when it was $200 at JB Hifi.

I'm loving it now even more. I use the hub with Home Assistant, and I can run different automations depending on what activity I'm doing in the media room.

Not to mention that the kids can do all of that via Alexa now thanks to the hub.

All of that aside, this is a beautiful remote to hold and use. Plenty of people spend $3,000+ on a TV. $200 on this is well worth it if you're throwing that kind of money at the rest of your setup.

Thanks Op. Just got it all connected to my devices:

    Sony TV
    Marantz Receiver
    Oppo 203
    Nest Thermostat
    Panasonic A/C
    Philips Hue
    Google Home
    IFTTT

Best thing is that now I can connect to my Google Home and define my activity and custom Google responses.

    “Hey Google, it’s showtime”

“Ok sir, setting up your home theatre right now, sit tight”

Once it’s connected to Google, basically all your devices can also be controlled via Google Home. Pretty cool!

    • That's awesome! Where did you end up getting yours from?

      • +1

Highpoint OW price match. I was told it’s the last one.

    • +1

Ooh, I've stuck with Alexa for my TV control (and other home automation). I didn't know that Google had custom responses like this - I might have to check it out on my Google Home!

      • Alexa can reply with custom phrases when its set up as a routine. Alexa wishes both my children sweet dreams before switching off the lights when they wish her Good Night.

        • Nice. I'll have to look into that!

I price matched one of these at OW Croydon SA, none in stock but they are posting it out (couple of weeks wait though). The guy had no issues doing a price match even though it was pickup only and non available in SA from EB

    • this morning i went to OW for price match, they told me it is different product compare with EB, EB has no hub (they said they got email from headoffice)

      NO luck…

      • Call their customer service on 1300 633 423 and pay over the phone. Shipping is free for metropolitan areas.

        • called..

they told me it is in store only

          cant match online order ….

  • does this work with a ps4 pro?

    • Yes - for control - but it can't turn on the PS4.

  • -1

Just confirming the one at EB Games comes with hub? I dont mind paying $200 and getting one if JB and Office works are out of stock

    • When I got mine, the OW called the Kalgoorlie WA and asked the EB guy to confirm the model and the box etc.. to make sure its like for like. EB did state it was the same, also Logitech do not sell just the Elite remote! They only sell the hub on its own. It does come down to who you get from OW.

  • Can someone who bought at Harvey Norman or JB post receipts in the post? ThanksI tried to price match at JB but got refused

    • +1

HN refused due to EB being in-store only and only having stock in regional areas.

  • +1

I just ordered this from Officeworks Cranbourne for $190. They didn’t have stock but could order it in. Takes up to 17 business days. Don’t mind waiting for that price. It was a price match and beat by 5%
I didn’t think it would work but I called them before hand to double check and he said over the phone that he can price match. Got his name, walked into store and ordered.

    • Nice work!

I just used the price guarantee option at David Jones they had plenty of stock in Melbourne CBD they called up EB Games Queensland and verify stock in TOWNSVILLE location though there was only one un it left and once stock is out of all EB stores they will not be honouring. The key difference between Good Guys, Harvey Norman and David Jones, as David Jones is a national retailer they must honour stock from any location in Australia. Nobody bloody buys those last few units in Townsville or in Tasmania and this can go on for as long as EB keeps it.
One thing that's occurred to me though is everybody must be making an absolute killing off Logitech in regards to margin! Edit.. Cost was $200 though I got the product in my hands immediately!

  • +1

Was successful with a price match at OW Woolloongabba after they called EB Games :)

  • +2

Alvian is right on the money there.

I went to both the Bondi-Junction OfficeWorks yesterday & Liverpool OfficeWorks today.

In both stores, ….they were UNwilling to match the price on-line of EB Games….said that OW head office told them not to…they also mentioned that the "Harmony Elite remote" EB games had "does NOT" have the HUB included!

This is absurd, … the Logitech website clearly states that there is ONLY one type of "Harmony Elite" packaging/product available!….& it always includes the HUB in all packages/boxes!
I bet they (OfficeWorks) just don't want to sell so many with there "Price Beat" guarantee + 5% off for the reduced price of $190!!

Read up on today's Ozbargain Logitech Elite remote listing, and noticed that another ozbargainer (KobiOshi), went to David Jones in Melbourne CBD, & got it price matched for $200.
Tried David Jones Market st. store Sydney CBD and scored myself 3 x Elites for $200 each.
(no stock left on shelf though)
Sales chap was very very helpful,..got another colleague to look up the EB games listing, & agreed to match it!
Didn't know DJ's price matched before today!

Just try DJ's in Chatswood and Bondi OR other Australian nationwide DJ's stores.
They price match NO issues asked.
After all, only $10 more than OfFiceWorks, and saves me more time driving around trying other OW's stores, and then ONLY if they agree that its the same product as EB games!

    • I went to DJ chadstone to ask for pricematch and after waiting the guy 15 min cause he isn't sure what to do since it’s more than 50% discount, then after the manager came and talk to me said sorry he can't price match it since it’s below their stock price lmao. They make me feel like I were scaming them or something, went to OW got price match no issue

      • +1

Just a little bit of education on retail set up and retail law out there which is being very common everyday and you'll find they actually have piece of paper around this type of information and educating you and telling you how they actually or price match and honour price in the market at most registers. LOL! it's a no brainer for them, it's very strange if you're to get a manager to come and try and push back against you, especially if stock available in competitor stores.

They are a national supplier!!! They have to do it. Same country then boom you're in!
To add to that Myers also is exactly the same and pretty much any big box national retailer I think under the consumer law has to price match the cost. so you should be able to walk into any big retail store unless its a franchisee and they have to do it and I believe that it does fall under consumer law and the person that denied you getting that regardless if it's half price or whatever they have an obligation to honour the sale at the price match cost

        DJ's words

        Price Promise
Our Price Promise is to offer competitive prices and match those of Australian and New Zealand retail stores and their online sites. Should you find a lower price for the same product elsewhere, we’ll happily match it provided that:

        the product is identical
any offers made by David Jones in respect of the product are also identically available from our competitor
the product is in stock at their store or on their website
Simply inform our friendly team members in store when making your purchase, or email [email protected] when purchasing online.

The David Jones Price Promise does not extend to stand-alone online retailers, auctions, fire or liquidation sales, rack, clearance and warehouse outlets. Price matching is limited to stores in the same country.

Sorry but to put this bluntly that's rubbish - there is no law that says they have to price match. Please show us where you think it is?

They don't even have to honour the sticker on the shelf, so if they made a mistake and pick it up at the checkout, they can refuse to sell it to you at that price. (There is a supermarket code so this isn't the case in Coles, Woolies, etc)

But they want your business so they make these promises, price matches, etc.

Anyone else trying to score this deal I would also try JB HIFI. I also went to a near by JB and asked if they would match EB games proce. They said yes. Some stores may just have trained staffed to reject these types of offers. Sometimes it’s just luck to get someone thats not gonna mess around. Or sometimes location. I may not have been able to do this in the CBD possibly. Both Officeworks and JB I went to had no issue. All they did was check the eb website and they were happy to match it.
If one store doesn’t work, try another location.

I just installed mine today. My wife loves it!
I have Samsung tv, Apple TV, PS4, denon amp and hue lights. Works great.

  • Sorry guys looks like EB Games has now sold out or removed the listing :(
