Are You Still Getting The Internet from Telecube

Hi
I got up this morning to find no link and dsl light showing on my modem, tried to ring but got disconnected. Is Telecube still going. They said they were closing the internet side on 4th, not the 1st. Or is it just me?

Not sure, I swapped over to ABB yesterday. :)

  • Read on whirlpool - disconnection only for FTTP currently

  • Mine got disconnected yesterday afternoon (FTTN). I did send them an email Thursday requesting cancellation which they have not responded to, so not sure if it's related

  • I'm on FTTP and still up for me.

  • Yep FTTN. Still active switching after Monday to something else unlimited.

Just checking what is around might go 100/40 or 50/20 this time since lower than that does not seem to be much cheaper and I missed out on the 12/1 $40/month flip tv deal.

Main thing is the new ISP needs to be able to have a balance like Telecube and not just auto debit.

I like being able to top up on credit feels like having a prepaid service and makes life easier to be on top of things in advanced per se.

TPG is out for me as I cannot start a credit and only monthly auto debit so no go there.

    • Check out Mungi
They have the very feature you're talking about to add funds, they only have 50/20 though which honestly i download ALOT of movies TV shows for my plex server and download games and 50/20 is plenty for just me

They have been great for me for the last few weeks since ive been with them.

      • Tossing up between AussieBB, Flip TV, LetsBeMates and Mungi atm. Also looking at MyRepublic but their initial setup fee is discouraging.

AussieBB looks like the most solid choice then maybe Mungi. Flip TV I think just got into the NBN business recently so not sure how long they might be in or how good the service will be and LetsBeMates I have never heard of.

I know MyRepublic is in Singapore so they might also be a good choice for a very long term choice all round.

The one with the best account management system would win for me.. That is good data usage tracking system and ability to use paypal and top up and start a balance and deposit like a prepaid instead of just monthly auto debit.

Have spoke with Flip TV and LetsBeMates so far.. customer support was ok not the best but ok.

Have not spoken with or tried MyRepublic support yet might give them a call tomorrow to see how good their troubleshooting service is.

        No idea with Mungi also.

Also update as at 5:02 AM 2nd September 2018 FTTN with Telecube still running.

Crossing my fingers they don't shut it off before I start an order to connect with one of the above on Monday or Tuesday morning.

        • I have family who have got MyRepublic and their speeds in peak time are seriously bad for them. Not sure about the others however.

        • I used to be with myrepublic, i only left cause of the price rises which took away not only my 100/40 speed but also my static IP address so even for $69.99 for 50/20 price i would have CGNAT which isn't good for online gaming or my plex server and i didn't want to pay the extra $10 a month for something i had before and double the speed the the same price.

The internet service was extremely good, only went down less than 5 times (mostly planned maintenance) in the 1 year 8 months i was with them and speed never dipped in peak times.

They have basically no account management system, you can change the bank account for direct debit and that's it.

At MR's current price they are not worth it IMO.

        • @Axelstrife: cheers thanks this is the review and information I was looking for.

I just lost connection today I think sometime before 5 or 6pm not sure as I fell asleep.

Trying to figure out between Flip TV, Mungi, Letsbemates and Aussiebroadband now. Will be signing up to something tomorrow be it 50/20 or 100/40 haven't decided yet.

  • mine has stopped working about an hour ago. ABB is already up and working for me though so all I had to do was disconnect my router from the UNI-D port and reconnect to another.

Noted mine is FTTP and I'm not sure whether my connection is with vocus or wideband.

  • +3

And that's why you don't go for cheap NBN startups if you want reliable internet.

    • Agreed. Paying the extra $2.50 a week to have Telstra FTTP and have had zero issues and always great speeds.

      • +1

That's right. I've had Telstra FTTP for about 6 years without issue. Since getting it back then I've had several free speed upgrades and my download quota is now unlimited.

      • only 10 bux extra ?

        telecube had unlimited 12/1 @ $35pm

        • If those speeds work for you then that’s great.

        • 12/1 is hardly NBN. More like DSL. I use 100 down at home and 250 down at work 😉

        • Is the 250 at work unlimited or the Aussiebroadband 3tb one?

        • @AlienC: Unlimited.

  • My FTTN Telecube disconnected at 3:50pm today. Confirmed line no longer active. They're disconnecting some early…

  • FTTP dropped out ard 10pm 1/9/18. Seems UNI-D port was switched along with config settings. Only then knew about TC shutting NBN when I told admin to check his emails.

Dropped out for 15mins this morning. Looking to ABB & hopefully zero downtime, just less capacity/quota. Thanks Malcolm!

  • Yeah I dropped out finally too also about 5pm or earlier can't remember now but before I fell asleep basically haha lol.

Will probably sign up to a 50/20 or 100/40 unlimited nbn only plan tomorrow.

Drop out time and statistics: Sunday 5pmish or earlier 2nd September 2018.

    FTTN.

  • FTTN is out for Landsdale ,WA, switch to ABB and connected within 1 hour on Sunday!! Amazing !!

  • My HFC went off an hour ago, as I was trying to cancel it. They'd shaped me a few days earlier (shaping - in their parlance - means it doesn't work at all, not that it works but slowly) because I cancelled payment due to their failure to resolve issues, so I knew nothing about all this.

Can't say this surprises me, in hindsight. Good riddance.

Not resolving issues, you say?? What's that all about then? Well how about the year I've spent fighting them to give me a WA-based dynamic IP. For the first few months my IP address wasn't even Australian (it geolocated to some jungle country I'd never even heard of), so I had all sorts of problems accessing services (streaming, buying, shipping, etc) that checked whether or not I was "in Australia", eg. Netflix, Optus Sports eBay, you know, fringe stuff. Then I eventually got an Australian IP, but it was Victorian. So accessing Freeview gave me the wrong regional news and played shows at the wrong times, and Bunnings wanted to show me stock availability at their stores thousands of KMs away.

They are (were) a horrible company. It pains me that they can liquidate and escape. Their owner should have to sell his houses, cars and fillings to pay back his dues.
