What price were you selling this same cooktop last week ???

I think I'll vote -ve because of your false and misleading claim of 79% off…

2 minutes of searching found exactly the same product for $349 from two different stores…

He did say 79% off the RRP, unless that was a later edit I dont see anything false and misleading about that. RRP's by their very nature represent a ripoff price.

RRP: $530.00 according to my first link…

      • +3

I dont see anything false and misleading about that. RRP’s

        • If traders do not normally price their goods at the RRP, it may be misleading to give you the impression that they do.

        • Thanks for the link!

      Hi jv,

The prices are 79% off the recommended retail price, I was not suggesting that this cooktop is being sold for $1599 in the market. $1599 is the manufacturer's RRP, not the current price in the market. Our price of $339 is the lowest you will get for this cooktop, guaranteed!!!

      • what is the current RRP ??? Not the original RRP…

I was not suggesting that this cooktop is being sold for $1599 in the market.

yes you were according to your title…

        • Nope, I was not trying to suggest that by the title.

        • Yeah - salesman would NEVER suggest that items sell at RRP

          /sarc

    • The 2nd link also lists the rrp as $1599.

so which one is right ?????

regardless, the saving is around $20 and the title suggests you are saving 79% which is BS

          http://www.oo.com.au/Hartmann_600mm_Enamel_Cooktop__P27736.c…
          This rrp is $899 lol.

I think the first link you posted is only the burner, not the cooktop enamel.

          "Gas Hob - RRP $999.00

Our beautiful cooktop is designed from modern high quality ceramic. The Italian design gives it an instantly recognizable elegance, all our stoves are developed using the most advanced technology resulting in uncompromising quality and performance."

According to the whois info, homeapplianceshop.com.au, ozappliances.com.au and hartmannappliances.com.au are all owned by Medcraf Projects Pty Ltd. Not only is Medcraf the distributor of this brand in Australia, but they are also the sole seller, making it easy to inflate the RRP to whatever they want. The "RRP" they cite is not a true RRP, but a figure plucked out of thin air to make the discount seem more impressive.

but a figure plucked out of thin air

        no surprises there… :)

        nice work

I really despise companies that try and con their customers this way….

I hope that anyone googling this store comes across this thread…

      • lol busted

  • RRP posted by different websites may be different, $1599 was the price recommended to us by Hartmann when we originally sourced the products from them. The bottom line is that our price is still the cheapest for this particular cooktop right now even though 79% off may seem a little exaggerated.

While your comment implies that ozappliances.com.au and Hartmann are different entities, you and Hartmann are in fact one and the same thing, both owned by Medcraf Projects Pty Ltd.

Maybe the Rep should familiarise themselves with the Law…

    http://www.accc.gov.au/content/index.phtml/itemId/815334

A trader risks breaching the law if it:

    • makes inaccurate or misleading price comparisons

    AND

Comparisons with the recommended retail price (RRP)

    • If traders do not normally price their goods at the RRP, it may be misleading to give you the impression that they do.

    and you quite clearly stated

I was not suggesting that this cooktop is being sold for $1599 in the market.

    ** FAIL **

  • well perhaps jv you should send a copy of this trail to the ACCC?

  • fail post

  • Agree. Made up retail price. Take this as a learning opportunity Rep,
Ozbargainers will always get to truth.
