Banggood Promotional SMS - Unauthorised

Does anyone know if rep of banggood appears at Ozbargain? I started receiving promotion SMS from Banggood since June which I did not subscribe. They usually show up at inconvenient time and I really want to get rid of them however it cannot be blocked from my phone. I tried to update the mobile number record on banggood but still I receive them. Thanks

I had alot of explaining to do when the missus saw it…

    • …but do you want to not receiving this sort of SMS? I have never agreed to received SMS like this. If I want to get promotional material from banggood they can just send me emails instead.

      • I just blocked them.

They aren't exactly bound by Australian law so might not be much you can do.

        • How did you manage to block them? I tried to type "STOP" as per first SMS said and it does not work which says "Please correct the recipients or they will not receive message". I tried to block it on my phone and it does not work as well

        • @siuol: Its a android function, press the 3 dot menu then People & options.

    Blocked.
No longer buying from banggood. Too annoying.

    • Same.

  • I got those scam texts from Banggood too since yesterday. So bad I can't even block them.
I just report them to ACCC https://www.scamwatch.gov.au/news/spam-sms-report-it
Suggest you guys go to this website to report them too

If you have Android(Oreo at least) you can block text messages using keywords.

      • +1

This is a great tip thank you. I blocked the keywords "Banggood" and "banggood.com".

  • Is there a Banggood rep on here?

    Hi there,

We are so sorry that the SMS bothered you. Our SMS channel aims to deliver the instant discount information to our valued customers like you. But we sincerely apologized for the inconvenience it caused you. Please feel free to text STOP or END to that message you received. And it's according to the unsubscribe logic of the operator company in your country. To ensure you won't receive any of it, please contact our cusomer service by mailing to [email protected] with your phone number. Then we will remove it from the lists ASAP.

    Best regards
    Banggood

You can't reply to the SMS to stop or end - must have stripped sender info or something from the messages.

    • +2

How about you stop sending SMS messages to your customers until you work out a way for them to unsubscribe via your website…. or better yet let your customers actually opt in.

    • See screenshot https://ibb.co/hkmKVK
You cannot reply to the spam SMSes you send because the sender mobile number is unavailable.

I am sure you already know this and do this intentionally so we can't unsubscribe.

    • You've removed the sending phone number and replaced it with "BANGGOOD" - so there is no number to reply to.

    • +2

No, I'm not going to send you any emails. You will either remove all customers (including me) from this unsolicited spam, or the next time I'm getting such a message I'm adding blocking keywords as suggested above by R-Man. If I have to do this it will also mean that I'll never buy anything from you ever again.

I sent an email, this is the reply:

[email protected] 16:41 (2 hours ago)

      Dear Customer,
      Thank you for your letter.
For your question, if you want to unsubscribe, you can edit the stop send message in uppercase "Text stop" to reply the messages can be unsubscribe. If you cannot stop it, would you mind sending us your country so that we could help you?
      Hope that you can understand.
      Best regards,
      lullaby

      • I also naively tried an email

I got a different but equally useless and incompetent reply

        Dear Customer,
        Thank you for your e-mail.

Option two: If you would like to Unsubscribe, you could click it here: https://www.banggood.com/unsubscribe.html
If the above two links could not help you out, you could continue to contact us freely.
        Best regards,
        Nonie Wu

My email to them explicitly mentioned SMS messages and my +614xx mobile number.

  • How the hell are they doing this? There is no number to reply to or block on iPhone. Certainly never shopping there due to this ongoing spam. Apart from his, Apple needs to fix this as there is some loophole to allowing unsolicited spam texts to come through with no recourse.

What a shit company. Blocking them on the router level for the whole building as soon as strata signs off on it.

    • Suggest reporting it to your Telco and SpamWatch. Can forward the sms straight to them (copied from link above): "The ACMA has made it easier to report spam SMS – simply forward the message to them! Their dedicated Spam SMS line is 0429 999 888". Just forward every sms you've already received.

Alternatively if you aren't placing any orders, you could just change your phone number in banggood to the Spam SMS number, so that they can self report.

        Well played.

        • updated number to ACMA in my profile - sorry banggood but you started it

        • @debo:

          thanks. done the same too.

      • I get the feeling that Banggood are pulling phone numbers from the delivery details rather than the main user profile. Mainly because I only have a landline listed in the main user profile.

        • i changed my contact number in my delivery addresses.

  • Same here. I tried chatting with the customer service rep on their website but she had no idea what I was talking about. Kept asking me for my order number so I gave up.

  • Started spamming me too once a day.

should ban sites that misuse customer information like this.

  • Thank god I'm not the only one. Bloody frustrating and no way to stop the SMS messages :(((((
Just hit them up on Facebook chat and got through to a real person and they have turned off the SMS spam.

  • I emailed them after being receiving 4 texts last night and this morning.

This is the reply I got "Could you please send "Stop" to unsubscribe it?

If it doesn't work, would you like to tell us your phone number?"

I've just replied with my phone number and hopefully they remove it from the list.

  • This shady Chinese fraud site needs to be banned from ozbargain. Imagine what they are doing with our information. Probably gifted to the government and sold off to thousands of scam and hack outfits. You just can’t trust these farkers.

  • Ok I'm getting this as well now on Android 8. I can't see anyway to turn these off. I've checked my Banggood account and no way to turn these off. I've deleted the app as well from the phone but still coming. I've set the phone to not alert me to the message but they are still annoying to be in the messages section as they now appear each day. I'll contact banggood and see how they respond. This could be the fastest way to annoy and lose a customer. I've liked banggood as I use them as my go-to for 'stuff' as I've found their prices good, and I know delivery times are what they are.

We have cancelled the SMS,and everyone will not receive our sms again.

    • Listening to your customers is a virtue. Well done.

    • Thank you.
