  • Include GST in price

      Hi
Products over $1000 are GST exclusive as you are likely to be charged GST by the custom.
This way, we can avoid the customers get double charge.

On the other hand, products less than $1000 are GST inclusive.

      • +5

But if it is over $1000, there may also be customs charges as well. You cannot guarantee what price will be charged, as you don't own the stock. Not sure why I would buy from you when you can't tell me what I will get charged and you don't own the stock. I pay you a fe thousand, then get hit with many hundreds of extra dollars in charge, no doubt after waiting weeks for delivery. If I find a lower price in the mean time (because of the extra unknown charges) will you refund?

Perhaps you could explain your business model a little better. Many of us remember the infamous xiaomi vacuum cleaner incident with another "local" start-up, Roboguy. And he didn't even have import issues like you.

        • Hi Skyva,

          Thanks your comment.

In fact the charge is fixed. 5% import duty with 10% GST. You can work it out using this calculator.
          https://www.wwcf.com.au/customs-duty-import-goods-and-servic…

So for the massage chair, it is $278.85 in total if you got hit by the custom.

For products under $1000, there is no duty and GST charge from the custom.
As I mentioned, we run the business as parallel import.
We do have warehouse in Syndey which would deal with the warranty issue.

@pilotyuan: I think you need to learn the law of the country you seek to trade in my friend. The $1000 limit is long gone.

        • @Risto:
          Care to elaborate please?

For products under $1000, we provide the price with GST inclusive which means the GST is charged by us, not the custom.

        • +2

@pilotyuan: I'm confused. Why are you only collecting GST for items under $1000? Why are you not doing so for items above $1000 as well?

        • +2

@pilotyuan: You said you were parallel importing. Which I assumed was by bringing in the items from an overseas entity as opposed to your Australian company (same as when Kogan sells via HK). In this instance, the overseas entity is required to be registered for GST in Australia if it sells more than AUD$75,000 worth of goods/services to Australia in a year. So, it your overseas entity which is collecting and paying the GST.

If the sale exceeds AUD$1000, the government collects the GST and other duties at the border, in which case, I believe you should be taking charge of the entire process rather than foisting customs and GST charges onto the unsuspecting purchaser.

        • @Risto:

Correct, however, for products over AUD$1000, the custom might still ask for paying GST and duties from the customers which making a double charge.
Then of course the customers can show they have already paid for GST to the custom but that is a headache isn't it?

But you are right, I will talk to our logistic partner to see if we can pay GST and duties for our customers.

        • @m9:

          Hi m9,

According to ATO, GST is collected at border for products over $1000.

  • Hmmm, this or JVC DLA-X5900?
I don't need short throw as it is a traditional projector setup.
Ignoring the price as being a differentiator.

    • You can check this youtube review.
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDn7g5C6YGI&t=569s

    • Depends on you room - if you have a lot of ambient light and want to use the projector in daylight, the Xiaomi will probably be more useful.

In all other conditions the X5900 will win in terms of picture quality, black levels etc.

  • Some kind of SSL (or lack of) stops me from viewing those https links, and as http it gets listed as a malware site.

    • Sorry to hear that, the whole website is built via Wix so I have no clue how to fix that. Will definitely keep that in mind.

  • Is the xiaomi massage chair the same as the xiaomi lefan massage chair?

Will have to wait at least 1 year in order for me to afford this chair :(

    • Hi Jetkuma,

No, Lefan is another brand working with Xiaomi. Their massage chair has just came out and it hardly got and inventory on the market.

This one is branded Momoda who is based in ShangHai.

WEMAX laser vs Xiaomi laser projector - which one is better?

    • The wemax is supposed to be brighter. I think that is the main difference.

    • They are from the same company called GuangFeng.

On paper, Wemax one is slightly better with higher lumen.

And as I was told by their rep. The Wemax one has better sound quality.
Besides, Wemax use A+ grade components while Xiaomi one uses A grade so better image quality and longer life.
