Wireless Earbuds on a Budget

Hi all.

Was hoping to get some recommendations for decent bluetooth earbuds for around $100 (or less). Anyone have some experience of good buds to get, or brands/models to avoid?

I'm hoping to get them ASAP, so it'd be a big bonus if they're available in store.

Depending on what you're using them for and how budget friendly you want, you can always get these SoundPeats Earphones that are on sale through Amazon - well liked by ozbargain community. I have a pair myself and they do the job - have 5 hours of battery life. Sound quality does all that you need it to, not amazing but definitely better than most headphones priced at the same price. If you're in a rush to get something, JB Hifi usually has something on sale (You can walk in store, have a look at the price and what's on sale - quick google search and review of what you're buying - have had good results from Sennheiser as a brand but haven't tested all the models). Otherwise, Phiaton is a brand that is usually dependable at around the price that you're mentioning but there will usually be better value buys if you can wait for better prices and buy online.

    • second the soundpeats suggestion. I got them through amazon and they work like a charm.

  • Jesus $100!?

I paid about $5 for mine from Zapals.

    • If you are talking about the S6 or really crap black bluetooth ones.. yeah they sound worse than an AM radio on a bad frequency with bad reception.

      • I mean, they don't - I'm not saying I'm listening to them for hours on end in a silent room, but let's be honest - I imagine if you get wireless earphones, you want to excersise with them - with all the background noise of running outside otr doing weights in a gym, that $100 set is going to sound awfully indistiguishable to a $5 set, wouldn't you say?

Also, I listen to AM. Radio National for life.

  • Meizu's are good.. had mine for about a year and never had an issue with them

on the subject of earphones, are there any reasonably priced which are the old hard plastic kind, not the new squash some weird rubber shit in your ear kind. I can't deal with those. I also can't deal with the really really cheap ones ($5 or so) which have sound quality like you're playing music in someones ass

    • haha i love the end of your last sentence.. perfect visualization and description

You might find you like the Plantronics Backbeat Fit. They are in ear but don't use a bud so nothing to mash in your ear. Can be had from anywhere between $80-120 ($120 being the most regular lower pricing).

With their design, they obviously don't have as much bass as the squash in, in ear style but that's deliberate with their design, as it allows more ambient sound in so that you're aware of your surroundings (running/riding, etc.). Pros and cons. Great headset anyway and good long battery life!
