        • @mdogxxx:
Could be. There is a sticker on mine indicating the sensor location, so would make sense I guess.

Problem I see there is - when I sit down, it'll be cold (well not where I live), and the initial sit down is the only time a person would care about the seat temp correct??

Or does the seat heat from the water it heats, and the sensor starts preheating when you sit

        • @Salmando: I think it's like those unlimited hot water systems and it heats water instantly.

          ?

That's how it goes forever, at least I hope it does. I used one in Japan for ages and it ran out of hot :(

        • @Salmando: Not the most ideal solution, but when it is cold and I have to sit on my regular old non-bidet toilet seat, I usually just leave my pants up and sit down for a minute and then once I have to put the cheeks to plastic, it has warmed up from my body heat through the pants.

@mdogxxx: Unfortunately the heating function doesn't seem to be in any way automatic in terms of turning itself on or off because of the sensor. If you turn it on and leave it on, it'll continue heating (quite dumbly).

        • @leonardr: Thanks, that's what I expected. My missus is 100% going to leave this on all the time :(

        • @hamwhisperer: I've done it myself a fair few times, but now have just got into the habit of turning it off each time.

I think I measured that the heating function consumed about 50W so it's not great, but not the end of the world either.

        • @mdogxxx: Update for everyone.

          Sadly, nah.

Came home today and accidentally the toilet seat was seriously quite hot.

Yes you can turn if off fully, or levels 1-4. Once on it'll stay on and doesn't seem to auto shutoff or anything, even with nobody sitting on it.

      • I'm happy if I can at least just fully turn it off the seat warmer during summer. Winter probably don't care if it turns off or not. Thanks.

  • Now that's a Royal Flush!

  • Help! Anyone who already owns this….. am I screwed?

I should've measured, I've only got 200mm from the centre of the bidet to the tap on the right hand side.
It is however a full 90mm back from the mounting holes.

My toilet is shorter than I thought, so I'm hoping I can slide the mechanism the full length back.
If I'm reading the instructions correctly the maximum distance I need is 28mm + 55mm from the holes. Is that right? (full slide back)

  • Was expecting toilet humour, but all I see is crappy jokes.

  • I’m looking to grab one of these but seeing many comments about the bowl being too long…

The specs on the site show the bowl from the securing holes is 450-505mm, but I’m not sure which is it? 55mm difference is pretty big, is it 450mm or 505mm, as 450mm will be just about the same as the current bowl, 505mm will extend quite a bit!

    Any feedback welcome, thanks.

Based on the youtube video, if I'm seeing it right, it looks to me like you can slide the bidet back and forth on the mounting bracket, about 55mm. So the shortest config is 450mm, longest is 505mm.

Look for Xiaomi smart bidet install video, it's about 6 minutes.
It's still like 1 - 3 cm too long based on what I've measured, I'l know tomorrow. Happy to help you out.

      • Thanks for the input, hoping you’re right about the config…

If you do find out tomorrow I’d be very grateful if you can confirm!

  • Also another Q that no ones seems to have asked or noted in the many recent posts on this product…

How often does the filter need to be replaced on this product?

Other branded bidets state every 6 months is recommended and they supply some spares and you can repurchase.

What’s the go with Xiaomi ones? Where does one purchase if it needs to be replaced periodically?

  • Arrived, finally installed.

Did anyone else have a very… Fluctuating beam? The water stream feels like it's kinda going everywhere.

This is reminding me of how I imagined a bidet, rather than the reality, using one in Japan.

For lack of a better term, it's spraying half way over my cheeks. I want laser tight focus.

    Anyone else?

Edit: water pressure is ok, but I'd prefer 30 percent more.

Never mind it was lady mode…

This is very better, still partly under pressure, but much better

      • Congrats on the install!

How's the seat overhang like, if any? Was it 505mm, or closer to 450mm?

        • There's about 20mm of overhang on it at the front, but the seat feels stronger than I expected it to be.

          Several things

1, the little water filter thing - the plastic threading on this feels weak, my cistern metal pipe grip (the normal fitting?) that seemed "bitey" - as someone else said, I had to grind some down and it was still stripping thread off the thing. So I bought that female to female and then male to male and now it's fine. (plastic on plastic)

          Bunnings about $10

I had to buy 65mm or 50mm ( can't recall ) bolts - and do a makeshift washer and stuff - my toilet 'holes' are too deep for the existing things it comes with

The little rubber things, I had to outright cut off the bottom of them, discarding the threaded screw and switch to the butterfly thing you'll see in the image.

The water pressure is ok, it's not great. I'd buy it again but man I wish I could've dropped in $50 more for some serious pressure.

The HOSE - damn that was close, literally not a mm more, it's just reaching and a PROPER plumbing store and bunnings have never heard of the fitting on it - BE WARNED. If you need a longer hose you could be really boned. I nearly hacked it up with the hacksaw and jerry rigged something with piping and piping clamps

          http://www.anzor.com.au/stainless-steel-hose-clamps-hose-cli… (those things)

Final thing, I haven't measured the seat (gotta clean before missus gets home) but the guide says it's 400mm wide. Cobblers - my toilet is 450mm at its widest point and it still doesn't poke out the sides (good!)

I hope this helps others - ask if any questions

P.S this is what my toilet looked like without seat.

@hamwhisperer: Great write up and thanks for the pics (extra appreciation for not having any floaties in the pic that shows the toilet water lol!)

I bit the bullet and pulled the trigger and made the purchase about 30mins ago… Called up Shopro and they were very helpful, great customer service from first experience with them.

They had a handful of spare water filters so I got them to include a spare for me to be delivered together with the bidet (+$24 for the filter).

Now reading your write up, the spare water filter is probably the least of my worries… The filter fitting seems like a b!tch from your experiences together with some others that I've previously read due to being plastic, and the braided line for the filter to the bidet seems like many have had trouble with due to lack of length. I read somewhere it's about 600mm in length, so I did a ball park measure on mine and hopefully I measured rightly as I believe it "should" be right.

I'm pretty sure I've seen the double rubber oring type fitting somewhere before, but I really hope you're wrong about the plumbing store and Bunnings never hearing of these fittings before, as I would eventually like to do a custom line to suit other filters in future!

Anyhoo… I'll keep you posted on my adventure when I receive lol…

        • @AnDyStYLe: I went to Reese, which is a pretty known plumbing chain and they then told me to go to some obscure shop which actually makes the piping.

It ended up reaching - only just

As for the length, if it's 60cm, it's sure right right on the limit, if someone told me it's 50cm, I'd believe them

The plastic fitting point on the filter, which the cistern feeds from, it's not too short, it's too long - if you look at high res pics, you'll see the thread only goes 4/5 of the way to the end. So there's about 1 to 1.5mm of just plastic, before the thread begins. So the metal threading on the cistern braided cable has nothing to bite on to.

What I ended up doing is slightly messier but it sure fits well - maybe $10 at bunnings.

Man I wish it had more pressure - I'd consider going without filter if I could up the pressure 25%

          Good luck, hope it helps

          @hamwhisperer:

Just keeping you in the loop, managed to install the bidet today =D

Admittedly I was pretty lucky with the install, I didn't have any dramas with installing the bidet whatsoever. All the lines and fittings screwed in without a hitch. Lines also had a decent amount of slack too.

I also added a backflow prevention valve on the advice from some pro comments on this site and sites that sell the bidets. If I didn't install the valve, I fortunately would have still had enough length in the bidet to filter line due to the rotation/angle of how my tap outlet points phew. You'll see from the pics below.

          http://oi63.tinypic.com/208iow1.jpg

Pressure seems pretty much on par with the Toto bidets I used in Japan a couple of years back. This was on 2nd setting even. That said it was a very quick test. Still waiting to play around with it more when nature actually calls lol!

The misses used it not long after and seems happy with it too.

All in all, fairly happy with the product. Only gripe is that the front of the seat exposes the front part of the toilet bowl. I expected this from the pics I've seen that people have posted up (including you). Guess I'll get used to it.

Install difficulty: 2 out of 10. I'd recommend all OzBargainers to get onboard and experience the luxury =)

        • @AnDyStYLe: Your install looks pretty good.

I dunno if maybe just my pressure is low but I'd honestly consider omitting the filter if I could, I just want 20% more.

You know what I was thinking, maybe I should add a slight restrictor for the toilet filing cistern part, that would encourage the filter to take some more of the slack up on pressure?
