Lexar Workflow 256GB SSD External Drive $99 @ BigW

100

Was looking for some USB sticks for school and for the parental units and saw this marked down. Save $80 apparently… Might be able to piggy back it onto the other BigW deal I saw today?? (Can't remember where I saw/found it. Will update if I can.)

Not as good as last deal for the 512gb model, but for a 256gb SSD model, it's not too bad.

Was located at BigW in Singleton, NSW. Your local store may have some, none or not on sale.

  • Can I take the drive out of this and replace my slow as heck 2TB laptop internal drive, or are there better options?

  • +2

its that price because its nearly 5 years old.

yeah this is still expensive for what it is is….

    • my 256gb samsung was $120 at eofy sale at jb as they price matched HN and that uses lastest samsung 3d nand and controller for portable drive.

  • 512GB ones are the same price if you can find them. I grabbed one from Noosa Civic on the way past the other day.

    • scarcer than hens teeth they are…

Yeah for the price I'd say you're better off getting one of the 2.5" internals and sticking it in a $10 caddy.

Yes, but check the performance of the caddy before you buy. I had a Patriot caddy from MSY, and it was really fast, but is a little bulky and has sharp corners. I bought an aluminium USB3 slimline caddy from a Chinese online supplier, moved the SSD across, and it was much slower.

  • Four of these in Brisbane CBD store as of 10:00 this morning. Also Carindale had a few last week, when I got the last 512GB one…
