Opinion on Pressure Washer - Workzone Vs Ryobi Vs Karcher Vs Homelite

Hi All,

What are your thoughts of owning the following pressure washers?

  1. ALDI work zone pressure washer (https://www.aldi.com.au/en/special-buys/special-buys-sat-15-…)
  2. RYOBI pressure washer (https://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-1800w-2000psi-pressure-was…)
  3. Karcher pressure washer (https://www.bunnings.com.au/karcher-1400w-1600psi-k2-basic-p…)
  4. Homelite pressure washer (https://www.bunnings.com.au/homelite-1400w-1450psi-pressure-…)

My budget is $99 for the unit. Currently I wash my car A weekly and car B fortnightly at the coin car wash and spend approximately $5 for each wash.

I reckon if the unit last me for over 2 - 3 years, I can recoup the cost of buying the unit easily.

The 4 models are within my budget range and which of them would be more reliable and do the job?

    Gerni

    • Is gerni or bosch a more reliable brand? Bunnings have a budget gerni unit for $129 from recent catelogue.

  • You'll find other uses for it around the house too. Worth having one

Jet my kids in summer will be a good list

2100W, 3100PSI, seems like an established brand, used it once to wash the car so far and did the job fine that I can tell.

$111.20 with 20% off right now, I got it for $89.

    • Prefer to deal with bricks and mortar store in case warranty is required.

  • Out of the bunch, Karcher is the most reputable brand. Workzone has the most PSI (pressure rating), but produces crappy tools at times. Ryobi is the middle grounds, known brand and good PSI.

  • Ryobi - Better built than the entry level Karcher (metal pump vs glass polymer), includes filter and has a longer hose.

Why are you wanting to wash your car with a pressure washer weekly? It's bad for the paint and trim. Sure on a 4wd or something I'd do it, but it won't clean as well as a sponge and bucket anyhow.

    • I parked on the street at work and home. Lots of bird pop and dust.. Good to have a clean car. Overall a clean freak says my mrs.

Aldi has the advantage of a 60 day guarantee so you get to wash your car, blast the paths and windows at home for two months then return, get refund in cash not store credit then go buy a karcher etc 8 free car washes!

  • get a foam cannon too

    • Will an elcheapo foam cannon from ebay do the job? Supercheapauto recommended bowdens foam cannon for $80++. Might be overkill for what I need.

      • Any foam cannon will do, but make sure you get THE CORRECT CONNECTOR. I had a lot of trouble finding out which fitting is compatible to my ALDI washer.

  • This Bosch cleaner caught my eye. Comes with metal pump, real compact and going for $140 https://m.bosch-do-it.com/gb/en/diy/tools/easyaquatak-120-31…

Anyone use this and got feedback to share?

  • I have the Ryobi unit from Bunnings, it was the best choice at the time due to price and included warranty.

Pretty happy with it so far, I've used it for cleaning the driveway, backyard concreted area & side of house, as-well as our cars.

The only issue I have with it is the plastic pieces for holding the gun component frequently fall off when pulling it out from being stored, otherwise it's been great.

  • this is the one I got last year & I am very happy with it, I got it from this place

I found it cheaper from this dude, but he has a lower positive feedback percentage

I found the enclosed soap dispenser too small to do all the car at once, so I got this; pick # 6

    • Thanks for this as I was about to buy the$80pack from sca.

      • your welcome

        • I just ordered one from an Aussie Seller, (because I'm an impatient bastard). ;-)

        • @BewareOfThe Dog:

is that the soap dispenser I take it? I was the same as you :)
don't put your fingers or hand in front of the outlet to check if the pressure is powerful, it is
enjoy your new cleaner, you will like it like I do mine
don't use it to wash the cat or dog either :)

        • @the Unforgiven: thanks for the heads up.

  • Had a Gerni for about a year now, no issue at all, I bought the lowest model from bunnings and wash the car on a weekly basis.
Comes with a 5 year warranty and bunnings emails the receipt so you dont lose it - which is nice.

  • Ryobi/Homelite are the owned by the same company, TTI, lots of the products are clones of each other

  • Hey HL2, I know this is a couple months old now, just wondering which pressure washer you ended up going with and are you happy with it? I'm about to get one myself, looking at the Ryobi as the first choice. Same reasons as you, weekly car cleaning, may clean the driveway or deck occasionally but mostly car cleaning.

Hi, I purchased bosch aquatak 120 with ebay supercheapauto 20% discount code. I went with it for its small form factor. If only using once a while, I wouldnt want a large unit taking up space within the garage. For the Bosch aquatak 120, the unit is mounted on the wall when not in use. Powerful enough for my use. Only thing is i missed out on concrete floor accessories. Looking out for aldi sale and they are typically karcher compatible therefore can be use on the bosch unit as it comes with a free bosch adapter. No regrets so far except for the 5m hose length.
