Best Economical Printer < $200

What do people recommend for a printer up to roughly $200?

Needs wifi.

I'm not sure if I should go a cheaper laserjet or not. I'm looking more towards economical with ink as I'm getting sick of spending so much on ink printing out stuff for uni.

I think your headline should read less than $200, not more than…

Anyway, my opinion is that you can't go past the low end Brother laser printers, if you don't need color. Generic toners are pretty cheap.

    • For those confused, the post title was originally >$200.

    >$200

    Or did you mean <$200

  • I buy $20 printers for the ink refills.

One thing I miss about Uni is the unlimited printing priviledges.

  • Can someone recommend one with a scanner as well?

  • I bought the canon MB 2700 and that thing is a black hole for printer cartridges

If you want economical go with a laser printer! Inkjets cost a fortune in refills. Assuming all you want to do is print black and white pages, something like this should work perfectly. You can obviously pay more and get more features like a scanner etc.

$98 with free delivery or pickup in store.

    • Laser i think is cheaper for ink/toner. I buy my toner cartridge on about for about $10 each . Fits my brother laser printer fine, and saves paying over $50 for genuine brother toner cartridge.
That $10 cartridge might not work as good etc, but it works, and I can buy >5 of them for the price of 1 name brand toner.
Also, if any of them delivered from ebay are a dud, you can easily get free replacement or refund (I have had to do this once or twice for dud toner cartridge) .
If quality and reliability are pertinent, I guess spend big on name brand cartridges. But for reliability, can just keep spares on hand of the $10 ed bay toner :) .
Btw. Can also refill own ink with inkjet, the 1 time I tried I failed, it leaked, but Im sure with practice, could perfect refilling own inkjet cartridge easily.
