  • Are these any good or just the same as generic eBay grips?

    • +1

The quality feels decent and they have a great grip I literally can't tell the difference between this and official Canon

    • +1

Have a read through some of the Amazon UK reviews as there are a few reporting that the 5D MkIII version at least, drains the batteries even when the camera is switched off.

      • +2

        Doesn't sound too promising:

Below is an email from Pixel on the subject:

Sorry for bringing you inconvenience. It is a normal phenomenon that battery drain by about 2% every 48
hours, it's different from original. This is not a malfunction. Our product instruction have stated you should remove the battery without using it.

Further digging indicates manufacturer no longer makes this product. I wonder why…

    • From what I can tell from the limited specs on the website the main difference seems to be:

      • Not ruggardised (internal body made from plastic rather than magnesium alloy)
      • No weatherproofing
? Buttons may vary (ie. Might not support all buttons, dials, joysticks of original battery grip)
      • Significantly cheaper

Personally if I'm shelling out $4k+ for a professional DSLR I wouldn't trust a $30 battery grip to protect it plus a lens (weighing at least a few KGs) if dropped, no less survive.

Could be a good solution for cheaper DSLRs though.

      • Yeah I've been considering getting a grip for my 5DSR but will skip this one for the reasons you've mentioned. If it were a cheaper/lighter camera, I wouldn't be so cautious.

  • Ta OP, bought 700d grip for my 600d. I can't speak for Nikon, but for canon at least multiple models share compatibility with accessories (as a lot of canon models are revisions of the same initial model) - if you have a similar model number (ie 700d - 650d, 600d etc) - check the details for the relevant product on the website and it may be compatible with your model. Just an FYI for those that may not know :)

it should be the same for Nikon. make a new account and get the 10 dollar off coupon code to bring it down to $19.95.

      • Good catch on the coupon!
Now I need some AA eneloops

        • For that, go for the Ikea ones! ( I personally wouldn't even bother with the battery as it would just add more weight. My battery could last last a full day shoot and that's plenty I recon. )

        • @sushimaster:
so it's worth just use it as a grip?
if using AA battery,do I need extra tray?or just remove exsisting battery tray?

        • @028: I know that for Nikon you can just put your normal battery in the grip and leave out the body battery.
I don't think you need extra tray for AA battery.

11/10 I'm only going to use it as a grip

        • +1

@028: comes with 2 trays you simply swap out the tray

      • Where do you find the coupon code?

        • Ibgoogled,it came out,you can print out and present in store as well instead of register online

        • Or you can scroll down on the website where they get you to sign up

      • That coupon is valid in-store only, so only useful if you can get to a store with stock. Good if you can of course.

        • No is not, you just need to login

  • Darn, nothing for sony alpha

  • only 2 stores in Sydney and city is currently closed. delivery is close to 10 bucks hmmm..

    • You can register online and receive free shipping on this!

      • +2

As far as I can tell, free shipping requires a $100 minimum spend.

        • +2

Yes. But for some reason, when I applied the ClubTed $10 code, it offered me free shipping!!

So $19.95 delivered. I am not sure if this is the case for everyone!

        • @webtonmoy:

I already had free shipping before applying the code. But yeah $10 off using the code too. Hopefully it gets honoured.

  • +1

I have registered for ClubTed membership, but after registration it says the 10$ off coupon is valid in store only. The coupon code also did not work in online checkout. Any solution? I do not want to go to store for this.

    • Found it! I require to log in first and then apply the code. Should have guessed that. :)

  • $129.95 RRP? Really? My Mieke one was around $40 from eBay and by the looks of it they are basically the same thing.

    • Yeah very similar. Still Im pretty happy with it so far just wish they had for for 1200D

  • +1

Would anyone know if the nikon d3300 grip would work with the d3400?

    • Would like to know too

    • I cannot say for absolute certain, but if the camera dimensions are about the same then vertical grips usually work across a few different models in the same line.

My vertical grip is for a Canon 70D but fits perfectly on my 80D.

    • I asked last time if that grip fits the D5500 and according to the rep it does. So probably would fit the D3400 too.

  • Hi I signed up but didn't get a code. anyone else have this problem?

    • It went to the "Promotions" tab in my gmail. You may want to check (if gmail)

    • Waited all day and jack

  • I, eh, got one last time for me D610, and it's a flimsy-arse bit of kit; no flush fit and significant flex when gripped like a man - all in all, a pass for those who appreciate the tightness of an OEM fit. Having said that, there could be freaks out there who like'm loose…

    • Mine is flush.. maybe yours is faulty?

      • How flush? Is there any gap between the body and the grip? Does it flex with small force?

I haven't used an SLR grip for a while, but my e-m1 OEM grip feels like it's welded to the body…

        • Its actually not flush after all.My Apologies. To the casual observer you wouldn't notice. It doesn't flex with force and it feels like decent quality. I'm happy with mine. I think vertical grip is basically essential and I'm surprised I went without it for so long.

  • damn, nothing for d7200,or is it sold out?

  • Anyone got theirs delivered yet? Mine seems to be stuck on pending shipit and when I chatted via their live chat, they just said that I'll have to wait for one of their shops to ship it out. Planning to have another chat with them again this coming week

    • Yeah mine came the other week.

      • Nice. Well just had a chat with customer service who said the item has been sent out from QLD but the store did not update the tracking details and it's public Holiday there today so they'll try to resolve this tomorrow.
