Get $60 Credit When You Trade-in Spider-Man or Shadow of The Tomb Raider @ EB Games

420

After the heated discussion on the new ‘Zero Regrets’ deal, here is another triggering deal.

Until 21/9, trade in Spideman (PS4) or until 28/9 to trade in Shadow of the Tomb Raider (XBOX/PS4) at EB to get $60 trade credit. Only catch is that $10 or that trade in needs to be towards a preorder. However what you can do is to put that $10 towards a preorder deposit, come back later (next day/hour/etc), and ask for that deposit to be refunded or changed to anything else in store! Combo with EB world trade bonus or birthday trade bonus for extra trade credit.

Ended up making a profit because I bought Spider-Man for $52.50 from the Gamesman eBay deal.

Happy Zero Regrets trading folks.

This also stacks with your EB World level trade-in bonus, ie if you are level 2 you will get $66 trade in credit.

So my level 4 card gets me $72 which is $3 profit since I paid $69 at JB…

      …wow.

      • Yeah, or with the birthday offer you get 50% extra.

        • I used that for Detroit. I traded in God of War after I was done with it + birthday bonus + level 4 card + JB price match = $9 for Detroit brand new. There's some good deals.

I saw someone on eBay selling 3 copies of Spider-Man brand new for $29 each last night. I was a bit sceptical about it. Although they had 230 feedback 100% positive. I didn’t purchase it though

Paid less than that through the Gamesmen deal too, I'm a die hard Spidey game fan so I'll be keeping it, but that's a solid deal and a half

    • i mean its a great game anyway.

    • You'd only have to buy it again when the DLC arrives!

30 dollars for the season pass, on a game I bought for just under 60… to say I'll be waiting for absolutely rave reviews and likely a decent sale, would be understating it.

For PS4? So I can't trade in a XB1 Shadow of the Tomb Raider?

  • +1

I finished spiderman earlier this week and put it on eBay for 69 bucks (what I paid at launch) and it sold within an hour. If people have the free listing offer like I did, it's definitely a good option considering it's actual cash and not store credit.

    • You still paid PayPal fees

      • $69 - $2 PayPal - $~3 postage = Still around 65 bucks cash

        Cash > Store Credit

  • cant find this deal anywhere, and does it include xbox one shadow of tomb raider?

    • +2

Thats dodgy. He has copied the description from the gamesmen.

      • I usually copy a description from somewhere when I sell. But still dodgy!

    • Think I got scammed to with the one on OzBaragin. Started eBay dispute.

the game has only been out for just a week?
couldnt you get a full refund from EB as a change or mind?

    • The only downside of this would be to lose the carrots of the purchase

      • +2

But if you're a level 4 already, what use are the carrots anyhoo?

    • Only if you originally bought it from EB.

    • True, but this gives an extra week to return. Or for people who didn't buy from EB, they can effectively return it and roughly get their money back assuming they paid around $69 with an EB World level 2-4. Even without EB World, $60 is pretty close if you want to pre-order something.

  • Did this by accident (wondered why I got so much) and got $67.20 towards Tomb Raider. Was this emailed out and does it explicitly state PS4 only? I changed to Xbox for SOTR, and might keep it rolling if I can trade the Xbox version for the same towards whatever is next.

  • You have until the 28th for Tomb Raider.

If I finished it by Friday I’ll take up the deal don’t see me playing again. I’m also trying to go minimalist.

    • Once you start the minimalist way you will not look back!!

  • I tried trading in Spider-Man last week as I had a second copy but at least for me they couldn't add any additional trade in vouchers( I tried $10 voucher and level 3 trade in bonus) because the system wouldn't let them. So $60 was the max they could do, which was towards a preorder

    • Last week? The game came out last Friday didn't it?

    • That's weird. I got the EB World Level 3 member trade bonus. That happened automatically at the register - got $65.40 to trade towards Sekiro!

  • You guys finished it already!?!? I have only had a chance to play it for an hour or so.

    • I got hooked and finished it in like 3 days (work part time, part time uni). It's not a very long game, only one of my sessions was over 4 hours. I'm not a completionist, so I offloaded it earlier this week.

are the DLCs worth holding onto the game for?

    • I figure I can always pick up the game again in a few months' time if it turns out I can't resist the lure of the DLC content. It'll be cheaper by then. In the meantime, I got to play and then trade a brand new game for as close to free as I've ever seen before.

I'm tempted but have decided to keep all the Sony PS4 console exclusives now as they've mostly been some of the best titles on the machine. I regret selling my previous consoles and games and will keep them from now on with the exclusive titles. Good deal though.

  • Beware EBs refurbishment fees. They charge a fee (regardless of condition) on every trade in and hope you don't notice. Funnily enough the higher the value the more it costs for them to take it off your hands.
    Less than $10 trade = $1
    From $10 to $19 = $2
    From $20 and up = $3

    • That's a bad store, mine has only ever done it if i've traded in games without cases or Australian ratings

      • Head office mandated charges across the board. If you don't pick it up at the time of trade in they've got you.

        • I checked my receipt, and no refurb fee. I got the full trade value.
Will be vigilant in future, just in case, though. Cheers for the heads-up.

They do charge a refurb fee on every game from overseas, though, as you might expect. Could that be it?

        • @ShaneWSmith: They definitely charge it on import copies. Glad you didn't get slugged, heard plenty of stories about people who have. Australian retail copies too. Let's revise it from every game traded to about 85% of games traded. It happens a lot.

  • Does it seem like EB will be running this promo for all the big upcoming games, like Assassins Creed and Red Dead etc?

  • Fantastic deal, and it stacks with EB World trade bonuses. Ended up trading in the game for $65.40 - I only paid $69 for it. Will be striving to be done with Tomb Raider by the 28th so I can take advantage of that one too.
