Pretty competitive direct flights from Sydney to LA with Virgin Australia. Available dates from September to November 2018 and then February through June 2019.

Tried all those sites looking at dates October 4 to October 18 and cheapest fare was with fly365 for $1535. I'm guessing there are some black out dates?
It's not every day in October, just dates in October. Also the OP put the US site not the AU site which has now been fixed which would have been spitting out US prices not AU.

Dollar tanking so much I think I'll be buying one of these return flights to collect two kickstarter orders that suddenly are costing $500 extra because of the GST threshold effectively dropping - I only allowed for 5% movement in the dollar. With $270 postage I'm also saving, I'm nearly there.
What did you order?
6 pairs of leather shoes - two pledges (thus two orders), each around USD730. At least bringing them back in I don't have to declare personal effects, so will also grab some clothes while over there. Main fear is booking a flight and then hearing kickstarter deliveries got delayed.
So many of these travel websites have atrocious reviews on Productreview.com.au.

Just some notes: This may be the cheapest Virgin Australia Sydney to LA flight seen on OzBargain for at least a few years. Cheapest fare is with fly365 however BYOJet has it for $823 if you want something more reputable.
