  • do you have any for an Aldi coffee machine (K-Fee pods)??

    • Hi! At the moment, we only have Nespresso* compatible pods.

And you call yourself a Republic?

Our coffee is made by the people, for the people. We're looking to expand our range in the future :)

  • I might be getting confused, you say buy 2 get 1 free, but there seems to be a limit of 1 only? Or is it just that the third free box is baked into the $10 total cost? I.e $5 a box. Guessing that's it in hindsight.

    Edit: ordered some

    • Oh sorry for the confusion! You're right - the Variety Pack includes 3x boxes of our Biodegradable Pods, which would usually cost $15 but is now $10 (essentially, you can buy 3x boxes of our pods for the price of 2). We'll the edit the text to avoid any confusion though

  • Just be wary of the environmental claims to biodegradability.

Republica states its capsules are biodegradable, which no doubt sounds attractive to me. The plastic is an oil-based polyethylene with a special additive called d2w, which renders the plastic "oxo-biodegradable". While this sounds like a cool concept, it requires removing the tightly attached lid, which is a real test of one's skillfulness, patience and determination to recycle. And it doesn't stop there. Once the lid's off, getting the coffee grinds out is fiddly and messy – the main reason I gave up another of my eco-coffee pod attempts, a DIY refillable pod system!
    Choice

The EU is trying to ban this type of oxo-biodegradable plastic:

It is undisputed that oxo-degradable plastic, including plastic carrier bags, may degrade
quicker in the open environment than conventional plastic. However, there is no evidence that
oxo-degradable plastic will subsequently fully biodegrade in a reasonable time in the open
environment, on landfills or in the marine environment. Sufficiently quick biodegradation is
in particular not demonstrated for landfills and the marine environment.
REPORT FROM THE COMMISSION TO THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND
THE COUNCIL on the impact of the use of oxo-degradable plastic, including oxo-degradable plastic
    carrier bags, on the environment

    • Hi, thanks for your feedback. Our capsules are certified biodegradable by the EU - one of the most stringent certifying bodies in the world. There is no doubt around their biodegradability, the claims are proven.

  • When you support caffitaly, I'm in!

    • Hi! We are looking at expanding our range so we'll let you know when this happens :)

  • Can't speak about the taste/quality of the coffee in these pods, but if it's anything like your beans then mmmmmmmm, love your coffee.

Thanks so much! Well we might be bias but we think it's seriously delicious :)

  • Use YAYCOFFEE10 for additional 10% off your order, brings it to $14.50 for 30 pods, which is $0.48ea. Nespresso pods are $0.69+ea, so guess we'll see how the quality compares.

    • Hi! Do let us know what you think of our Biodegradable Pods :)
