    Wut? Not AC then.
    AC is 5ghz

  • I wonder if the antenna is actually attached….

It is, but it's pretty flimsy. I easily accidently snapped the antenna off on mine

      • Did it still work? This will confirm if the antenna is actually attached.

didn't check, binned it right away

    This is not a router

    • Yeah, this is weird. I presume they mean that you can use it as a 'router' in that you can create a hotspot from a laptop that is connected to a network over ethernet.
But you can already do this on Windows, but I guess this is for laptops that don't already have wifi..?
But what laptops don't have wifi these days?

      • Maybe for something like your android TV boxes?

I think you may be overthinking Chinese translation

      • maybe it's for desktop ?

      • It is not a router. It can work as an access point. Say you have a desktop PC at home that is plugged in via ethernet (copper cable) to the internet, and you want to create a hotspot from that PC so other wireless devices can connect to it and get internet. That is one example you would use this.

        • That what I meant when I said maybe they mean you can use it to create a hotspot.

      Better penitration for longer range

  • $3.65 on ebay for similar looking generic one

I could be wrong with this, but I bought an RTL8188-based USB wifi dongle about a year ago, and was unable to make it connect to my AP. Apparently the RTL8188 does not support WPA2, only the easily-cracked WPA and WEP encryption protocols.

I was trying to connect under Linux, and I'm not a networking guru.
