Sony XAV-AX1000 + Rear View Camera Apple Carplay Head Unit $397.55 Delivered @ BrandBeast eBay

160
PARKING

The Sony XAV-AX1000 is similar to the AX100 head unit that Supercheap Auto had for $385 delivered last week, but it only supports Apple Carplay (No Android Auto yet).

If you don't need Android Auto, 12 bucks more for a reversing camera seems like a good deal!

Looks like it doesn't have Android Auto compatibility, if that's important to people. Front USB and AUX input look like the other major differences from the AX-100.

    • Thanks for the spot rith - I didn't notice that! I've amended the post to reflect that.

  • how much does it cost to install these?

    • Would depend on the car make and model and who is doing it. Check with Supercheap Auto.

Fairly easy to do. Couple of screw drivers and some plug and play wire harness' that you'll need anyway and a fascia for the car.

Otherwise I think general head unit installation (without supply of fascia/harness) is about $100 from what I remember.

    • for me, it will cost more than the unit it self with all the harness and fasia…

It really depends on the car - if you have a car which came with a "Double DIN" size unit (hint: if the entire radio face fits neatly into a 18 x 10cm rectangle) then its usually a relatively simple swapout as long as you have the right wiring harnesses (think ~$100). I did a Toyota Yaris and Kluger recently which both fit into that category - the front fascia and frame behind it were all standard DIN dimensions so no complex items required.

More unusual shapes and sizes might need a more advanced fascia which can add $50 to $200 to the cost of install.

Aerpro is a good place to check out what parts you need to install a radio in your car.

  • Any recommendations for an installer in Melbourne? I am too lazy to do it myself.

im too lazy to look one up

  • but it only supports Apple Carplay (No Android Auto yet).

It will never support Android Auto though

  • Nice deal, I grabbed one! Can finally replace the portable bluetooth speaker I've been using since I security-locked my stock Toyota deck…
