Woolworths Personalised Specials Price Changed

I received an email from Woolworths with personalised specials and it advertised cauliflower as $2 each until 25/09. Went to the store and scanned through with my Woolworths card but it came through as $3. Apparently my personalised specials prices were changed mid week.

Is that consider false advertising? Not sure if Woolworths is in the wrong doing something like this. Kind of caught me off guard as a poor uni student.

It'd depend on their T&Cs, though if I were in your position (including being a poor uni student because I do remember what that's like), I would've talked to a cashier, shown them the personalized price and demanded to get the first unit for free (is that still the policy at Woolies?)

    • I haven’t read the T&C on their website but they don’t disclose anything about the specials ending or changing in the email. I would expect they would have to disclose this information in the email.

Reflecting back on it, I definitely should have talked with someone at the store about it. Just a bit annoyed that woolies pulled a quick one on me.

Actually that's weird for 2 reasons:

        1. I didn't realize the prices were personalized, I get the emails too but I'd always thought they were just specials Woolies had that they picked out to specifically email to you because of your buying patterns; and

        2. Woolies specials always change weekly mid-week - are you sure the special were until 25/9?

I never thought the price was personalised as it's the same shelf price in store.

    • The email advertises them as personalised specials. If you subscribe to them. Would be misleading if it wasn’t.

I just had a look - I think they mean the emails are personalized based on your shopping habits, not that the discounts were actually personalized. As far as I can tell from the emails at least.

The problem is that fruit and vegetable prices are state specific and for some reason you are receiving NSW prices in your personalised specials email where a cauliflower is selling for $2.

    • I think you found the problem. Looks like prices for NSW is still $2. Thanks for clarifying. Need to get it fixed up.

      your poor what?

      • you pour out the fruit and veg.

They are just a selection from the specials of the week, the only "personalisation" is they look at your past purchases and recommend things you have bought before. No special treatment for you! You must have scanned something different or looked at last week's email or something like that.

  • Woolworths sometimes makes you 'add' the special to your card. Did you hit that button?

Also as others have said make sure you update your details so you are getting personalised specials for the correct state.

  • did woolies "assume your location".
