    actually, we sold a lot of GX745/755, so far so good. GX260, the p4 model they are making troubles.

      So far not far enuf.. had many issues with DELL. its cheap but still would like the peace of mind

      Ahh yes blown capacitors right, pity it was still used until approx 2009 by Dell. These machines are good except the psu , well actually its the capacitors again but they just make the psu blow before the board this time ;)

      The good thing is Dell have a program to replace known faults, ie Capacitors etc and usually will foot the bill for the repair up to 5 years from purchase.

  Would this be a good machine for a HTPC? Would I be able to record TV with this box ok (of course after installing the right hardware)?

    of course, i used to record TV with a P3-733. No worries
    you probably would want more HD space though.

    Yes, I think so. I have an older model in similar case as HTPC (GX520 - no failed caps yet, touch wood).
    It is small, very quiet and fits with my other black/charcoal hifi gear, BD etc.
