Dishwashing Tablets - Best Value?

What is peoples opinion on the best value tablets. I have run out of Finish ones.

    powder is generally cheaper.

we've only recently moved to tablets due to stumbling upon marked down stock.

    • yes but if you're stockpiling (like a capitalist ozbargainer) powder will harden, becoming brick-like and be a PITA
I'm aware tablets go old too, the white powder turning green/brown

We have a Bosch Lifestyle dishwasher, and the Woolies Select (blue tablet, yellow centre) don't work well, leaving soapy residue on glasses

Aldi tablets work well for us. Cheap as well

    • I would like to counter this by saying having tried a few different types, Aldi ones do NOT work well for me at all - worst I've tried.
I'm one of the most stingy people on planet earth and I actually gave away my Aldi tablets to someone who wanted to try them (memorable for me since its one of the only things I've ever given away).

I have a good dishwasher (best one I've ever had or used), so I'm guessing it depends on the local water make up - ours is quite hard.
Most washes with Aldi tablets there's still even some bits of tablet left and anything challenging is not clean (I'm a bit lazy with pre-rinsing).

Whereas any Finish works good including any grey import (from Reject shop / any $2 shop) - generally takes whatever punishment I throw at it. I don't bother with quantum or any of that fancy stuff just the basic one in bulk buys.

(PS - BEWARE: Anyone with small children, I've heard the powerballs if they fall out look like lollies and are toxic / choking hazard if eaten, there are ones with dissolvable wrappers that contain them that are best choice for this scenario)

  • What is a good price per tablet these days?

  • Choice provide the following analysis:
    https://www.choice.com.au/home-and-living/kitchen/dishwasher…

I have used both the Coles Ultra with Active Oxygen and Aldi Logix Platinum 18 in 1 Tablets and they each worked well for me.

Finish Quantum Powerball (regularly 50% off at Coles/Wooolies) work well for me but still expensive at 50% off.

  • Finish Quantum Powerball at 50% off from Woolworthes, stock up! Those or the ALDI tablets.

  • The reject shop has some really cheap ones, I don't remember the brand, but they're like $7 for a box that lasts for ages.

Coles do a $5 box of 30x 6-in-1 tablets. They work perfectly fine and crystal clean finish each time. Don't understand paying double for Finish brand.

  • Also depends on your machine. I previously had a whirlpool which was OK with finish tablets. Recently moved house and have a whizbang LG and (using the same tablets) the LG does a far better job at cleaning.

Reject shop have Finish ones fairly cheap

  • I buy Fairy Platinum in bulk packs from Catch, the 180 pack last me about 6 months. They leave everything sparkly no rinseaid needed. https://www.catch.com.au/product/5-x-fairy-platinum-all-in-o…

    • I second this.
      Finish and aldi are rubbish.
Fairy are the best on the market and amazon, catch and the supermarkets usually have them on sale… when they do stock up :)

  • Cascade Advanced Dish-washing Tablets, available at Costco. Similar quality to Fairy Platinum
