Not at this ask, buy a Samsung

    • +8

Guess you've never tried and compared too many phones previously.

    • +2

Could you explain which Samsung Phone and why it's better than this phone?

    • This phone main camera uses a sensor around double the size of any Samsung phone or any other current phone for that matter. With the exception of some older phones like the lumia 1020, no phones go with this size. Size matters!

      • +3

why did you get downvoted? Could people explain why rather than just downvoting

        Is Ronnnie's staement inaccurate?

Awesome phone. Can answer any qs if you want. But the camera really is amazing and a good two Gen above the rest for now.

Emui desktop has been surprisingly great too

    • I heard it's really amazing for low-light photos, is that true?

      • +3

It's crazy to believe a mobile phone can do low light so well. So night photos by themselves are pretty good if not best of class by themself.

Then there is the night mode, where is uses DRAM stacking where it takes a few burst shots over a few seconds.

Check these shots out I took, mix of "night mode" and just plain night mode and monochrome: https://imgur.com/a/qsCvjvP

      • i have an s7 edge and the low light was pretty terrible while taking a group photo. compared to my friends p20 pro was almost DSLR like, definitely best camera on a phone I've ever seen.

      • +1

It's physics, the P20 pro physically has the largest camera sensor in a phone today!

        • Also apparently the night mode does some magic which can produce low light shots that no other phone camera can pull of. Though it comes at the expense of speed.

    • @superroach May be a silly question, but is the camera better than the Huawei Nova 3i?
If I were to compare the specs between the 2 phones, it seems like cheaper phone (Nova 3i) has a better camera.
      Unless I'm missing something?

      • +1

Yeah. The 3i has 2 rear cameras v 3, and the ones it is missing is important. It's missing the telephoto one, and it's missing the monster 40mp sensor one.

        • Thanks superroach for the clarification!
I don't know enough about phone cameras and currently comparing phone cameras based on the advertised mp count.

    • Have you found the selfie camera quite bad? Mine seems to overexposed almost always and hence the background gets blown out.

What about lights in night time using the rear camera? I getting some heavy lens flare… Not sure if normal

    Don’t expect any software updates

    • +2

My mate 9 with Android still received update recently.

    • I've received three updates and one major one since launch.

DO NOT EVER buy a from these snakes! I learnt the hard way when Australia Post had stated they "delivered my item" but didn't and whoever they delivered it to did not even sign for me. I had to explain to Allphones the whole situation and their care factor was below 0 and it wasn't until I pushed them to do things and constantly call them they acted upon it. However when I complained about their customer service I treated with the upmost disrespect when an Allphones representative said "We really don't have to do anything you know since Aus Post is claiming its delivered" long story short do not ever buy from this company, they will take your money and not give a f#&* about you!!!!

    • +1

Is using Parcel Locker a better option? If Auspost doesn't put the parcel into the locker, they can't state "delivered", right?

      • +1

        Good query. Curious about this

    • Kinda agree. Had one sent with fastway couriers and it got lost (presumably stolen) and never delivered. Was such a hassle trying to claim a refund.

      • +1

It took me a month to get it all sorted and in the end I had to get Ebay involved to sort it out for me. Long story short DO NOT BUY FROM ALLPHONES

    • Tough one … what would you do if you owned the business and it was confirmed to be delivered?

    • I had excellent service from them. Check what phone your postman is using. 😋

  • +1

Also beware of Bang Good as well. When you buy from them you better finger cross the product works, if it’s defective they will only offer you a “partial 25% refund” and ask you to fix it at your local store.

    • +4

How is banggood related to this deal?

      • I was mean to reply someone else, wrong section

    • Not true,

So I went through a claims process from them (I purchased a torch):

      1. I reported and they advised to try multiple things
      2. I had to send photos so they can assist again
      3. In order to give me a full refund I had to upload a youtube video of the item not working
      4. They processed the full refund (they offered partial to begin with for DOA) about 8 days after reporting

Overall a little tedious but fine by my standards (given the price)

      • I did exactly the same things till steps number 3 now. Then they offer me 15 AUD compensation for the DOA Power line WiFi adapters I bought (I paid 61 AUD).
I said I wouldn't accept that. they said they need another 72 hours to come up with a "further solution"…

        • Yeah during the whole process they said that line about 3 times but finally agreed to a full refund
Mind you I did give them quite a few essays to read - I take they didnt contact you after that last "Need more time" line?

        • @Peannut: technically still in 72 hours time frame. I guess I have to wait and also prepare some essays as well. It is quite a tedious DOA refund experience I have so far. Not sure why, but DOA is manufacturer’s responsibility, not resellers, but somehow they reseller want customers to compromise and deal with it instead :\

Did they paid for the return shipping as well?

        • @wen87n:

Nope they told me to keep the broken device

  • +2

No headphones jack no buy. Simple as that.

    • +2

Top camera among all phones. Surely that's a good reason for some to buy it

    • How many headphones you got? Just duct tape the adaptor to it

  • wasn't it this phone caught cheating in Benchmark?

    • +1

They marketed photos that implied they were taken with this device but were later exposed to using a DSLR

  • Mate 20 pro is out in 2 weeks, I would think this would push prices down.

    • Hence why the phone is no longer $1099 ie this ozbargain

  • Doesn't work with android auto

    • Apparently it's fixed with the last update
