Was recently notified by Neil regarding a significant price drop on the KSC75 at $27. KSC75 price has dropped further to $22.53. Past posts indicate the price hasn't been this low since 2014 to mid-2015. Alternatively, Massdrop has released a dark blue version which includes a one-touch remote for controlling your audio and can be used to make calls. The KSC75x by Massdrop are priced at $16.99 + shipping and are expected to start shipping from November 19th. For those indifferent with having a remote, the original KSC75 provides a cheaper price point, faster delivery, having the certainty of knowing the build quality, and allows the buyer to deal with Koss's Limited International Warranty through Amazon Australia (having the ESP9500 fixed by a domestic retailer is great for many owners).

Let's quickly take a look at the specs:

  • Sport clip design fits neatly around each ear, with pivoting earplates for a comfy fit
  • Titanium-coated drivers deliver accurate sound reproduction with little distortion
  • Neodymium iron boron magnets offer deep bass performance for an extended frequency response
  • Cord measures four feet long; L-shaped 3.5 mm plug
  • Limited lifetime warranty

Here's my opinion: Due to the open nature of these headphones, they are a large step up from stock earphones packaged with flagship mobile phones. The bass is muddy but will sound more punchy after 50+ hours of burn in. Midrange is very clear but sounds too artificial for my liking. The trebles are the most satisfying and add an airiness to the instruments playing. A big shout out to those wearing glasses - these are extremely comfortable when I have my Rayban sunnies on. Interestingly, these are some of the most modded headphones ever. The Kramer mod is the most renown. If you are into high res audio and enjoy side projects, consider taking up the challenge to push this over-ear headphone to its limits.

  • Over the ear with pinnae clips?

    • Provides a retro look.

These are fantastic sounding, butt ugly headphones. Recommended for use when alone.

    • They also have a tendency to break quickly too. I was going through a set every 18mths, but given the amazing price it still worked out cheaper than most other sets.

    • Look into implementing the headband mod.

    • Or a few self confidence classes ;)

  • Additionally, the foam pads will disintegrate after a few years, but you can buy replacement ones for a couple of bucks on ebay.

I've had 2-3 pairs but they never lasted that long. Each time one of the headphones would stop working due to the incredibly flimsy cable

      • Cool.. not sure why the neg.

    • Wear and tear is normal for headphones using foam, leather and pleather earpads. Moisture damage is a big part of that multivariate problem. I always put a silicon packet into my BOSE QC carrying case.

  • Would be a tough sell to give those away

    • How so?

Loved my portapros. Might give these a go. Anyone found portas at a reasonable price point?

    • Yeah me too, love the portapros. Buyimg this just because i love koss headphones.

  • Due to the open nature of these headphones

… they seem a poor choice for mobile phone use due to sound leakage both ways.

    • You're right, they're not the best with isolation. In terms of sound leakage, they're not as bad as other opens cans and IEMs.

      • IEMs almost by definition won't leak sound…unless they're playing music while not inserted into your ears

(unless you're thinking of the ear bud type earphones with earpieces like the stock apple ear buds or airpods - not IEMs though)

        • +1

Ah, I meant for the word "open" to describe both a type of can and IEM. Think the proper term for those IEMs are vented dynamic. Examples of semi-open earphones that come to mind are the Shure SE846, JH Ambient FR and 1964 U8.

  • Does this item actually have free delivery with Prime $49 spending? Amazon says this item has no free delivery option, but then I am not a Prime member.

    • It is free for those with Prime and spend 50 for international orders. Looks like someone edited my post.

  • Terrific sound quality. But I prefer wearing lightweght, on ear normal style headphone. So never use these.
    Wouldn't recommend because they're awkward.

    • Heavy wouldn’t be what I would describe them haha. Are you sure it’s not because of discomfort?

      • Yeah your right. I don't know why I put that.

  • I purchased a set of these for myself and a brother and cousin, and all three failed within the first couple of years, due to cable connection, the ear clips we all found to be poor.

Great price, but would not buy again
