That or someone royally screwed up a site-update / other maintenance item.

Just a note: For anyone else, don't click through to pricehipster just in case it has been hacked - no idea what malicious code may have been injected.

I checked the website and there appears to be no malicious code injected. It would appear Mr PriceHipster screwed up his encoding.

Edit: I'd say the homepage has been broken by not being set to UTF-8. If you go to something random like https://www.pricehipster.com.au/w it will work.

  • Thats not "hacked"

  • All I see if fml. Reckon that will be the programmer when he gets called into his bosses office.

Pretty sure price hipster is one dude running solo. He did an ozb post for feedback when launching

    • Works, thanks!

  • Thanks all. Yeah it looked like a charset issue to me, and I've seen hackers insert new content in another language. Hopefully someone will see it soon; their twitter account is inactive.

  • There's a bargain in there somewhere…

Hey, creator of Price Hipster here.

It seemed to be working fine for me, then I just refreshed my browser and now I'm getting the same thing. I guess there's something off with the update I pushed yesterday (it worked at the time).

This is indeed an encoding issue and not a hack. It's probably related to a cache change, which is why it happens only on the common URLs and not every time. I'll get it sorted out now.

    • Have to select open in New tab to open and can't see price history

    Should be fixed now.
