I'm not a huge fan of almond milk (especially given the amount of water required), but I do love the Vitasoy Oat milk!

Still looking for a plant milk that textures well for coffee, though.

    • And Brooklyn loves oat milk as well apparently:

Is there an opportunity to buy up big and ship it to the NY hipsters??

My barista (fairweather) recommends Minor Figures Oat M*lk for gourmet frothing.
(But Ozbargain is not the place to discuss $7 milk.)

Point taken about the water that goes into almond milk, but it's still half the amount of water needed to produce cow's milk, so every bit counts.

Most cafes use Bonsoy for their soy coffees

    • Could you expand on the amount of water required for almond milk? What's the problem there?

Vitasoy have a "cafe for baristas" soy and almond but is not commonly available at the majors

      • Used that in coffee the other day and it coagulated. :s

        • That's as much likely due to the preparation/method as it is to the milk itself. Google will tell you more - or ask here for more info if you need.

        • It's more likely to be how acidic the beans are. I don't get any issues with low acidic beans (I think different regions produce different levels). But if I use high acidic beans (or a Cafe does) then it clumps.

I use Soy Milky without issue, get good texture.

      Try the calci-plus soy milk.
I don't drink coffee but this is pretty creamy and says it's good for frothing on the container.

    • MilkLab almond milk and Macadamia milk are the best I've tasted for nut milk in coffee and it doesn't coagulate as well.

But it's not sugar free but also it doesn't taste sweet. If I didn't look at the package I would've thought it was sugar free

    • I use Vitasoy's Original Soy Milk to make lattes and it holds up quite well.

Yeah feel being ripped as they dilute it with so much water, should be 100% soy, making bold statements that it’s 100% is blant false information. Least ribena has concentration which can just add water yourself.

It means they're made with 100% soy beans you spazzer, any milk by definition is an emulsion in water. The difference between the '100% organic' ones and the normal ones is the normal ones (and most soy milk products) use soy protein extract for the milk, which is ostensibly 'less healthy' compared to using the full beans (google this I forget why people go on about it). But more importantly I think the 100% soy bean ones taste better (especially Bonsoy).

      • Soy Milky use whole beans.

      • I can give some tips on Soy Milk. Avoid So Good, they are expensive and use Soy Protein Isolate. Vitasoy is good as they do use the whole beans. Bonsoy is very healthy as they use the whole bean and do not add extra oil and same with Vitasoy Lite which is even healthier. I buy Soy Milk from Aldi's, I recommend the Just Organic Soy Milk which does not use Soy Protein Isolate and is only $1.50 but does have added oil. Since Vitasoy is on special people should consider stocking up on Vitasoy Lite.

Surely then its worth a positive vote?

      • Technically he should only give a positive vote after he brodens. lol

  • I've gone over to non-dairy milk long ago, and vitasoy is a better one. Thanks OP, I'm gonna stock up

  • Do any of these have B12, iron, calcium or zinc fortification?

    • Yes.

Oooh this is my go-to brand of plant milk, thank you!! ❤

  • Sorry, new to non-dairy - Can anyone tell me what's the difference between the soy milk and the soy milky?

Other than the extra letter on the end of course.

Which one actually tastes better? Also what about compared to the Calci- plus?

    • +1

Soy milky seems to be made to tast like cows milk. Calci plus has that soy milk flavour. Personally I think the Cali plus is best for coffee.

    • It's a case of horses for courses. Personally I use unsweetened soy milk for cooking as it seems to give the best flavour, and is nutritionally the best. I use oat milk for drinking and on cereal etc. as I like the taste.

The only way to find what you like is to buy a range of different milks and test them in different uses. Then buy up big when they go on special :)

  • Wasn't on special at Haymarket WW yesterday.
