Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Complete Series for $24.99 @ iTunes AU

250

Avatar: The Last Airbender (the complete series) in full HD is currently on sale for $24.99 on the Australian iTunes store. Normally sells for $49.99-59.99, so this is a pretty good deal.

The show itself has a 100% average tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes, so it's well worth a watch.

Don't forget cashback when purchasing from iTunes!

As always, bear in mind that you either need iTunes or an Apple device to play this, as iTunes-bought movies and TV shows are encrypted with DRM.

Long ago, all type of media can be played anywhere and there is no region lock. Then, everything changed when iTunes was introduced.

    • When? Back when you had a bookshelf of large tapes of your choice of Betamax or VHS that you needed a special player to play? Oh, and both formats were either PAL or NTSC and most TVs let alone players could only display one or the other of, but not both?

Or perhaps when you had a bookshelf of DVDs with region locking implemented that you would have to maybe unlock your specially bought player to play, but by unlocking it some other titles might refuse to play?

Maybe you meant the advent of Bluray and HDDVD where some studios opted not to bother with region locking, but were still physical media that you had to have on hand to play?

Let's not even mention how you haven't been able to actually buy a new player for some of those formats, sometimes long after their release onto market, sometimes shortly after launch.

In fact, the only change that seemed to happen when iTunes came about was that any media I buy from itunes is automatically upgraded to the best available format when it becomes available. I loved how my collection of VHS tapes were garbage after I first laid eyes on DVD, and that I had to rebuy anything I really wanted to get the most out of once Bluray came out and I got a 1080p display. /s

Ehh I think he got it but found it not funny as its not true at all.

I enjoyed the reference; but a time of no region lock for home media is as fictional as this series. ;)

I've seen many of the well-loved shows (Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, Handmaid's Tale, The Crown, etc etc) but this consistently ranks among my top favourite 5 shows of all time.

I know that is probably exceedingly high praise and maybe even brings the bar up too high but it's just so fantastic. It's funny, it's tragic, it's wholesome, it's ambitious. Barring the first few episodes you often forget that you're not the target demographic.

ATLA is what it means when something is described as for the whole family.

I've watched this series twice, the second time I enjoyed it even more as I watched it with my 7 year old son. I know it is a kids show but it is simply an amazing story and told really well.

  • When does it git gwd? Up to episode 3, still a bit slow.

Maybe episode 6 or 7? If you don't like it after episode ~12 it's probably just not for you.

      Personal Favourites from Season 1.

First off, first half of the first season definitely is very kiddish.
It takes a big turn with Jet S1E10

      The Warriors of Kyoshi S1E4
      The Storm S1E12
The Blue Spirit S1E13 - gamechanger in terms of the character development
      The Siege of the North part 1 & 2 - S1 Finale

Pretty much no filler in S2 and S3.

Thanks OP, I was weighing up the value of buying this on Blu Ray for $60 when I already have the DVD sets but this is a much more reasonable price for the HD upgrade 👌

    • No worries — I've heard so many good things about this series and I was just waiting for the price to drop. Really happy I can dig into it now.

My all time favourite show. I'm disappointed that when they released LoK it was rushed in the final seasons. I'd love a continuation of TLA though.

  • Netflix making a live adaptation too..
Let's hope they dont muck it up like the last turd….

What movie? There is no movie within these walls. The Earth King has invited you to Lake Laogai.

Yeah, it breaks my heart that the movie is the only experience of the series that most people will ever have.

I was chatting to a colleague a few days ago about the new Netflix series 'The Dragon Prince' ( https://m.imdb.com/title/tt8688814/ ) and telling him it was created by the same people who did TLA, and he commented that he only watched the movie.

      :(
