bout time they sold a dashcam

im going to do zero research as with all things xiaomi and jump on the bandwagon and impulse buy if/when this deal hits 100+votes

    • +2

They've been selling this for a very long time

      • +2

oh i had no idea. i legit rely on ozbargain for latest xiaomi product updates
their catalogue is too broad to keep track so if it pops up on ozbargain it usually means its a good value and useful item

        • It used to be confusing called '70min' dashcam, which combined with the low price made it seem like it started recording over itself every 70 minutes…

I've been waiting for this deal to come back, but right now is a bad time for unpredictable delivery times šŸ˜’

          • @Salmando: 70mai.

its aswesome for the price it was released at / couponed codes at the time
            ~$25…

      • this is pro version

        • whats the difference?

    • You might be waitin for a while

    • They already had the 70mai. This is an upgrade over that (I assume).

  • How do I wire this in cleanly?

    • +1

i see all the personal review videos have the usb cable running up into the roof

how do people get it up there. i assume it comes down the side, around and under your steering wheel and into the 12v socket area in your centre console?
not 100% clean but better than having a dangling usb cable i assume

      • +1

Exactly what I've done. You can buy little tabs to hold the cable under the wheel and along the side console. Probably the cleanest without ripping anything apart or paying someone

        • A lot of dashcams come with those clips/tabs I think.

      • google your car model for a pickup point, mine had one in the passenger side kick panel so ran a cable along the upper windscreen edge and down the passenger side.. it tucked in the gap nicely.

something like these are useful to grab a pickup point if you find an empty fuse holder.. https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/sca-automotive-fuse-holdā€¦
then i grabbed a cigarette lighter socket from supercheap and wired positive to the fuse tap and neg to a screw on the body and tucked it away behind the kick panel.

can probably do same on the driver side just try use the accessories one and not anything important like the ECU, ABS etc

        • I've done plenty of them. Just rip the side panel off (or use screwdriver to remove the airbag button, then Rip off the panel) and run the cables inside. Same with the weather seal around the doors.

For those thinking it can trip the side airbags, it takes a lot to, but threading the usb cable around it is just fine

          • @adrianhughes1998: yeah…im not gunna risk ripping off stuff on my car and damaging things

just gunna do the ghetto double sided tape way

            • @furythree: Lol I learnt it myself and never ripped a single thing. But I get why people are scared.

        • +5

what do you mean by pickup point? google just give me car rental search results

          • @furythree:

what do you mean by pickup point? google just give me car rental search results

I just get a list of my local bars and clubs.

    • +1

      pay someone

    • I routed the cable similar to how this video explains, only difference is my 12V socket is in the centre console storage compartment.

  • +1

not sure what their original price on website would be, but they have 50% off Sign up offer

    • up to

      • I have subscribed already and it says a 50% off coupon will be sent to you on a launch day.

  • Anyone know if this has a lithium battery or a capacitor?

    • Battery

    • you need battery for parking mode

      • Or hard wire it to your fuse box like I did.

    • +3

From the specs, it's battery. Not sure if lithium or not. Not an ideal choice for Australian hot summer time.

Don't buy from bangood unless you want to be spammed via email!

    • +1

      Filter them.
      Unsubscribe.
      Junk email account.

      It's not a big deal

  • Cant find fps, if it 60fps or above , that is superb.

  • +4

Max operating temperature 60 degrees, could be a problem in the Australian heat in summer, especially it has a lithium battery in it.

    • so fine if you live in melbourne then

      • +1

The highest temperature recorded in Melbourne city was 46.4 Ā°C (115.5 Ā°F), on 7 February 2009.

        • +10

Here we are talking about the the temp inside the car…
would be significantly higher if you leave your car in the sun…

          • +3

@sol3x: Indeed - was pointing out that it gets bloody hot in Melbourne.

            • @RangaWal: True, my phone having a navigation was out of working when it was under the sun inside my car.

      • Attaching it to the exterior of your car is not recommended.

  • im on the market for something like this.

what do fellow ozbargainers use and what is recommended??

    • Street Guardian, Viofo (with GPS) are some of the popular brands here at OzB

    • I have the blueskysea b1w… Highly recommended… Has capacitor battery so suits Australian summers also

  • XIAOMI 70mai Dash Cam Pro 1944P
    Vs.
    Blueskysea B1W 1080P IMX323 Dashcam

What is best bang for buck?

    • +1

At this price for the 70mai Pro (which is comparable with the Blueskysea B1W), definitely the 70mai Pro. The only downside is that it uses a battery instead of supercapacitors like the B1W, but I've been using the 70mai (not pro) which has the same battery and it's been fine for a few months now (granted it hasn't gone through a summer yet, so we'll see).

      • +1

The battery in my Vicovation WF-1 has been running fine here in sunny QLD for the past 4 years.

  • Very interesting specs for the price. Would be interested to see some footage!

    • its in the dashcamtalk link that the OP posted. looks pretty good but you cant make out plates or signs in some cases

  • Rep: There's a small difference between the official product page (pre-order page) and the bang good page: notably above the adhesive pad on the dashcam, there's a slot with what looks like a few electrical contact points in the bang good version, but not on the pre-order page. Do you know what that is and what it's for?

Also, does anyone else prefer the cleaner aesthetic of just having a barrel-formfactor without a screen?

  • How would these work as rear window dashcams? For a hatch they may not heat up as much due to angle of glass vs. front windscreen

  • for those metal pin anyone wondering, it can use with GPU module to enable radar detector function (GPS based, and I don't think Australia is included).
or you can choose ADAS system, which is like lane keep system
for 24-hour protection I am sure you need to wire it to 12v always on, and with some kind of the voltage regulator (they do have an official module for that)

    https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a230r.1.14.51.5921581fvā€¦.

i have been using the normal version over a year now. i always part my car in the sun, and the mount was still going strong.

that might be the most impressive thing……..

  • .
Thanks adr8 as I'm selling my car it has VIOFO hard wired (leaving it in the car) I ordered the Xiaomi using your discount
can't see hard wire kit on Banggood do they sell the hard wire kit ?

  • Has anyone tested this dashcam?
    Couldn't find any reviews

  • +1

This would be the international version? or are all the prompts in chinese?

  • Does this deal include the GPS module ? I can't see that mentioned anywhere.

  • the sales page indicated as below - "Not included GPS Module"

    Package Included:
1 X XIAOMI 70mai Dash Cam Pro (Not included GPS Module)
    1 X Car Charger
    1 X USB Cable
    1 X Sticker
    1 X Bracket
    1 X Crowbar
    1 X User Manual

And for ADAS features to work, a GPS mod is required:p

  • Hi can someone pls give me link where we can actually buy the whole product , the dash camera and the GPS moudle? i am interesting

it seems like couldnt find any link selling the whole package for English version am i right or i am missing something?

i had a look on TAOBAO it is available for the whole pack

if we buy it form TAOBAO and ship it here would that gonna to be same ? or those ADAS won;t work in AUS?

    someone pls explain

    many thanks

  • This code only works with Chinese version it seems. ā€œChinese Version, the app and vioce control function can only work for Chinese now.ā€. Code wonā€™t work on English version (though English version is on sale for ~AU$86)
