Why would you get the key before it's released?
I bought Assassin's Creed Odyssey last week from Green Man Gaming, and received the key the next day which allowed me to pre-load the game (39.8GB download) on to my system ready for use on release day.
Nope. I preordered just now and I get a message that the key will be provided on release date. I guess you won’t be able to preload the game if that’s what you were after.
CDKeys usually get their stock in the previous day. It's rare they come late on release day.

This is like older key sites, where the site gets keys through whatever means and then sells them. The keys are legit but the whole thing is a grey area. G2A etc. are marketplaces for people to sell keys and therefore attract keys purchased through fraud etc. making it far worse and less grey.

could not tell you for sure but other times I have got stuff off amazon in other regions it's been a cd key

To answer my own comment Amazon has release day delivery option for blackops 4 so it will arrive on the 12th.
that is correct amazon have release day option and its a code inside a box for all major retailers.
But IIRC the beta was ~50Gb, so depending on your connection, might be a bit longer than that.
I was lucky enough to win the NBN lotto, feel bad for those this didn't. :(
