  • I'm not sure how to get someones attention about this, but the website passes your login user/pass as plaintext in the URL… I'd be seriously wary about this website, if not company. I've emailed them.

    • They use https. But they should still conceal the password to prevent shoulder surfers from eyeballing it.

  • $20 for a kilo delivered is very good. Any idea when the code expires?

    • No word on expiry. I'll be signing up and cancelling all within the next week personally to avoid the risk.

    • when you signup it doesnt say discount is only for first delivery it gives the discount as an ongoing subscription price. Price error?

  • Bought 500g will see how it goes, couldn't really find any information about it but for $11 it is worth a shot..

    • It's a mystery and rotates every fortnight. Their last espresso was a Colombian from Aucuba which I'm currently loving!

  • +1

Had a look at the deal and a every 4 week delivery is:

    1kg

    About 56 cups / 2-3 drinkers
    Free shipping

    Subscribe for
    $49.50

I question the "2 to 3 drinkers" but the free delivery is nice. I struggle most months with just me having a couple of brews a day to keep my subscription of 1kg lasting each month. If visitors ask for a brew i'm screwed!

My current Manna beans subscription that is quite a few years old now is 2 different blends and occasionally some single origin bean and it costs $36.91 delivered. That's a hard deal to beat.

    • Yer two drinkers is probably more accurate if they're basing it on each drinker having 1 cup a day. Although it is worth noting that from experience Beanhunter always send out a single origin.

  • Actually it works out to 20% off their discounted signup price!

  • Dang, I just ordered a kilo from Bay Beans last night.

  • Any idea which roastery the beans are from? Do they rotate between different roasteries? Anyone received a delivery yet?

    • From the Instagram post linked in the deal description:

features a different roaster with each shipment

      • +1

Yeah, but you don't want some scrub roaster! Hate to be stuck with a kg of coffee I couldn't drink.

        • Yeh that's my concern, I'd be happy to trial at 60% off if it's padre, proud Mary seven seeds, axil etc.

  • Silly question but the final product comes shipped roasted? Or roasted and ground?

    • Would also like to know. Don’t have a grinder and want to pick up one of those Hario cold brew coffee makers

    • Whole beans only

      • Is this coffee ground? Will you grind my coffee?
Right now we only offer our coffee as whole beans, believing that this is the best way to preserve coffee’s freshness and flavour. Fresh coffee, freshly ground is impossible to beat and we urge you to give it try!

If you do require a coffee grinder, please send us an email - we would love to recommend a few options for you!

        Roasted beans, I suppose?

        • definitely roasted whole beans

I'm trying to understand this sign up to 'subscription' then cancelling idea. But then this code is for 60% off first 'order' ??
But from a quick look at the site in link, it seems like the subscription is the order ? ie. You subscribe and get coffee delivered regularly as the inclusion for subscription.
If I just want to order as a one-off , how do I do this ?
I expect I cancel next week etc; but then do I get my subscription fee refunded , like a free trial subscription type thing.

I would just like to buy 1kg of coffee at cheapish price, and thats it. 1kg will probably last me 12 months, since I rarely drink coffee at home.

    • +2

      Good question. That's odd… I "subscribed", selected 1Kg every 4 weeks.
      Final message:
Your 14 Day trial has started and will expire on 15-Oct-2018. At the end of your trial, you will automatically be charged $19.80.

How is that a trial? When will I get my coffee?

      EDIT:
Got an email "We will start charging your card ending with 9877 on 03-Oct-2018."
      That makes more sense.

      • also:

        Your recurring charges every 4 Week(s) $19.80

        probably wrong

    • It definitely doesnt say its only for first order but this may be a mistake on their end.

  • +1

$20/kg is cheap $30 is reasonable but it's unreasonable to charge $50/kg coffee with shipping if you don't know what you're getting. It's really not tailored to me, if I don't like it, how am I going to dispose my other 900grams.

    • It’s a good deal to order 2kgs though

  • +2

I ordered some to try. Seems a bit weird that they are running Google ads on their website.

    • Offsetting some losses, maybe.

      This price is very good.
I was paying 50/month for 3000thieves delivered, around 60/month l via beanbay coffeesnobs delivered
And was about to sign up to alternative brewing for 50/month delivered..

      I'll give this a run.

      • +2

Give two cracks a go. I get their global caffeinated promo (4x250g of your choice) for $40 regularly

        • Shall do after this one, cheers mate

  • Just ordered. Email says "Price: $49.50 (Coupon: Tesspresso - will be deducated (sic) from your next charge)".

Hope this doesn't mean the first one will cost $49.50 and the coupon will only be deducated from future orders.

    • If they do, it's an illegal marketing practice

      • Thanks for deducating me ;)

    • +1

No from experience they will deduct from the first order. The wording is just very confusing…

  • Signed up to coffeescout's 1kg and it comes in 4x 250g bags and a tasting notes card with some brewing notes and info. about the roaster.
    What's in the beanhunter box?

    • Never heard of coffeescout. What's the quality like?

      • Pretty good. They seem to work with a lot smaller niche roasters that I've never heard of before, great way to try small-batch roasters. Kind of swing from light to dark roasts each month though, but personally doesn't bother me.

        • Nice I'll have to check them out! Are they always singles?

  • Maybe someone can ask @Tesspresso what the beans are?

  • So I just tried doing this for one 1kg bag.

    After paying it says this;
Your 14 Day trial has started and will expire on 18-Oct-2018. At the end of your trial, you will automatically be charged $24.75.

This reads to me is that all they're doing is making it half price for half the month. Not sure if this is actually a deal. Will be cancelling before 18/10 and expect to not get any beans.

    • Has your card already been charged? You've missed the cut off date for this fortnights shipment (https://www.beanhunter.com/coffee-club/shipping-dates), so your card shouldn't have been charged yet. I agree the wording is very confusing however…

      • No card not charged yet. Maybe it will be charged at the next cut off date which will be in the next 14 days. if not im going to cancel.
        It's definitely worded wrongly IMO.

        • mine had a 3 day trial until 4th Oct and it charged correctly at $19.80 today, then after it shows trial expired and the next charge will be full charge so should be fine

          • @iNeedMoreMoney: are you keeping the sub?

            • @Realdee: I'll try the beans first and see. But the problem would be I'll either still have too much beans left or already no beans left when the next batch arrives. I think I prefer the flexibility of just grabbing some beans from a nearby shop when I'm nearly out.

        • It should be charged after the next cut off. I signed up on Monday and they charged on wednesday night.

  • +1

Hmmm any updates from the latest orders? I think it was supposed to be sent out yesterday according to this https://www.beanhunter.com/coffee-club/shipping-dates

    • I haven't heard anything either.. I would have expected to be sent an email with tracking details?

      • +1

No they don't send tracking details.

        • Thanks, though kind of annoying to not receive tracking or even an email stating it's been shipped..

          • @Camembert: Yep, the deal is good but the company isn't well organised.

      • yeah.. all i got was a charge on my CC
        and still waiting for delivery

        • +2

hope it arrives before the next subscription

    • I've received mine. Although I'm in Melbourne (same city it gets shipped from).

    • also still waiting…

    • +1

They send out the parcel via Sample Post which may explain the slow interstate shipping - https://auspost.com.au/business/marketing-and-communications…

  • Still waiting for mine, in Brisbane. Their website and support is atrocious.

  • Did anyone manage to cancel the subscription? I can't see any option on their website. I emailed them but no reply so far.

    • can you see an 'edit subscription' button when you login? cluck that and an option to cancel will pop up.

      • No there was only a "Start subscription". Like I wasn't subscribed at all. All sorted out with the comment below.

    • +1

Yes, I just cancelled mine. It's done via the chargebeeportal

      • Thanks mate!

      • tried cancelling but says it can't find my email address… the website is so bad when you first order because there was no confirmation email

  • omg mine is going to arrive next week, wtf… taking way too long for something that is spose to be fresh and I'm outta beans

    • Mine was roasted on the 1st. Very disappointed

  • Just got me beans, just cancelled me order.

  • Mine were roasted on the 8th, arrived on the 12th.
Bought filter style beans, pretty average espresso to be honest.
Ill see how they fair for their intended purpose when i do a pour over on the hario.

    • mine roasted 4/10 arrived 12/10

  • +2

Seems the roast date is all over the shop .
Beans do a good pour over, i can report

  • mine arrived and has a rating of 8/10. Oh thats the roast date

  • Signed up on the 11th Oct. Nothing so far.

    • Check the website, it says your order won't be shipped until next Monday.

  • Received mine and have been drinking it for the past week and don't like it at all, can't get a good flavour no matter what I try

    • Who are the actual beans made by? I thought they were a company who just send out a random roasters beans as a subscription service? OR do beanhunter actually roast themselves?

      • No they don't roast themselves. They source it from various roasters.

      • These ones were from Vertue Coffee called "Dark Side", taste rather fruity to me which I didn't like at all

        • I got exactly the same one this time lol. Actually I loved them…

          • @iNeedMoreMoney: I guess that is probably why these types of things aren't too good since you get random beans they might not be your thing but glad you like them :)

  • I ordered paid on 01-Oct-2018 and until now, they still haven't ship my coffee beans. Do not deal with this company.

    • That's super annoying. Have you tried contacting support?

      • I did. several times. They always say that they will send the bean, but then they never do. After few days, I will ask them again, same thing happens, they will apologize, and promise to send it, but they never do. After several days, I'll follow-up again, and same thing happens. They are horrible. I wish I can share a screenshot of my email exchanges to this group to warn our community to never deal with this company again.

        • Damn, I'm sorry to hear that…

  • I also still havent got mine
