Go-to Instant Coffee

I've read many comments of late about changes to Nescafe Blend 43 and Moccona Classic.

I've never been a massive coffee drinker, but my father is coming for a visit from New Zealand so I'd like to buy him some coffee for when he's over.

What is OzBargain's go-to instant coffee, if price isn't an aspect?

I've seen good reviews about Nescafe Gold Short Black, what about Original?

Thanks!

  • Ask him what he has over there… their brands would be available here.

    • He drinks Blend 43 over there but I've read lots of comments of a recent recipe change and it's no good now. I don't mind splashing out on a coffee he'd really enjoy

      • +3

Coffee is one of those things where what is heaven to one is mud to another so it is pot luck with what another person likes.
Price is never a guarantee of how good it is. I prefer Bushells.

        • ^ this.

used to work with a guy who started in my govt dept when he was 16 (now ~50). only ever drank instant. doesn't like real coffee. will take a little bag of instant with him to cafes and ask for a cup of hot water.

  • I like the instant sachet ones that you just empty into a cup and add hot water and stir when I want coffee but don't want to pay $4; I drink NescafĂ© Cappuccino Strong myself

  • go-to instant coffee

Either Nescafe Blend 43 or Moccona Classic.

Why don't you just ask him what his drinking then if you don't drink it yourself.

  • We don't have any instant coffee in the house, except for the Robert Timms coffee bags. There are various varieties and they make good coffee (if you don't want to go with the real stuff).

  • The NescafĂ© short black is the only instant allowed in our house. It also depends on how your dad likes his coffee.

  • Mocconna Dark Roast, the jars keep my pantry organised too.

All instant coffee is actually disgusting. Is that what he actually drinks back in NZ?

      all coffee is actually disgusting

  • Robert Timms freeze dried, every time, especially now that they have it on 1/2 price sale at Coles, but usually, I buy it even at full price

although, now I at the moment I got a huge tin of coffee from reject shop for $10, called Map, classic roast, found out online that they usually sell this at $40 at officeworks, so I had to get it at $10, though at home I saw that it expires only a few months from now

  • As far as instant coffee goes, I find this one pretty good - Moccona Indulgence. The 100g is $11, and the 200g is $16.
