Misleading eBay Product Page

I just found a few of product pages that says 2x some items, but when you add it to your cart, it does not actually show 2x anywhere.
For example:
https://www.ebay.com.au/p/2x-Comvita-UMF-18-250g-Manuka-Honeā€¦
It says 2x Comvita UMF 18 250g Manuka Honey Zealand, but when you click details or add it to the cart, the title changes to Comvita-UMF 18+ Manuka Honey 250g
Nowhere in the description says that the quantity will be two bottles.

I think this is borderline deceptive practice. What are your thoughts?

  • Oh that is bad. I was going to say - it tells you in details so it's okay, but there's a "Buy it now" option right on the page that actually says "2x …" which means you could skip to buying directly without realising it's a single unit.

I think eBay would be pretty snappy with refunds if you complained afterwards, but you could talk to eBay now and get them to change that product title because that's a "Product" listing by eBay itself, not by individual sellers I think - and it could well be automated (if enough people are selling the product in pairs, but the cheapest actual listings are obviously for a single unit).

    • If you click "Buy it now", the item is listed under the "Review items and postage", and it does not have the 2x there as well.

    • I see, that must be because of the ebay automated things.. There is a link called "See all 12 brand new listings" and the offers that give 2x are there, obviously with a much higher price.

if you were to make a paypal dispute - missing item - then the screen shot of your purchased item would show the "2x"

I note the ebay item title has now been updated.

most likely you asked them if it was 2 and they have realized their mistake

It still shows 2x Comvita … for me from that link above

      • sorry, must have clicked on one of the other manuka honey sales to get that different title.

would be worth using PACK20 the Buy-1-and-get-second-one-20%-off from this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/406410

Wow something worse than group listings

  • Not sure what the deal is. The page looks weird though. I think it's a bug in the website rather than an intentionally deceptive practice.
Clicking "show details" makes the real listing show up, as does going to the listing from the seller's list of products.
