Update: This is now confirmed to be nation wide with a manager, and also available on the app.

Photo proof: http://imgur.com/gallery/D5Y6wV7

Extra Bargain: Ask for a piece of cheese on the side for a $1.60 cheeseburger. (They can say no, but if you're nice it will help alot)

Edit 16/10: The deal is still available but some stores appear to no longer be participating, check the price in the app for your local store before heading there.

  • Just checked my app and looks like hamburgers are $1 there too!

  • +1

Seems QLD started it off. Nation-wide assumably now?

  • It is nationwide. Saw it on an ad.

  • What is it? Bun + patty + sauce?

    • +1

‘+ diced onion and a pickle slice IIRC

      Edit: + mustard

Same as a cheeseburger without cheese

      • +1

Nice. I actually still have some Big Mac special sauce left so I might add that in as well as some cheese.

  • +1

So how much is it to add a slice of cheese?

    • +2

60c but you have to get it on the side and put it on yourself, otherwise employees will get in trouble from managers.

      • ?? have to put it on yourself? what 'law' do they think they are breaking?

      • they will get "in trouble" for selling more items?

      • +2

tell them to use the bun as the container for the cheese and spare them puttin in a new container

    • If you add cheese to the hamburger, then it should be part of Gourmet Creation burgers lol

      • +1

Yeah, but that's not the special Maccas "crack cheese" that is the most delicious cheese that has ever existed in the history of humanity.. so delicious that you'll secretly lick it off the wrapper, unless you're drunk af and just don't care.

    • +4

I got one yesterday the cheese was free…from my fridge.

      • +2

Yeah… don't think it works like that.

  • I don't have this offer, I have $1 large sundae. Targeted?

    • +1

It's not an offer :) It's in the regular menu - standard price now :)

    • Check in the menu, it's there. (Not the Offers section)

  • -1

I question whether its worth it even at that price.

    • -4

      It's better than Hungry Jack's.

    • +3

PRICE ?!? I was thinking you get a dollar as a REWARD if you eat one :S !

      • For $5 reward I will eat the cheese

      • If you guess the correct number of lips and rusty sheriff badges in the patty you get it for free.

    • +1

All thanks to clever marketing. Brainwash the kids, then the kids go there as adults (with their own kids). Give the perception of value by buying value meals, and make huge $$$. (Sounds like a certain Phone company).

    • +1

$1 for a chance monopoly token (when you order through the app.)

      • 1/5 chance to win higher value item :D

  • +1

Is this the poor mans cheeseburger?

  • It's simple. 100% Aussie beef, topped with onion, pickles, zesty ketchup and mustard, all on a soft, fluffy bun.

Again why is it called hamburger?

    • +8

      Steamed hams.

      • At this time of the month, in this part of the country, isolated entirely to your kitchen.

    • It's an American company :)

    • Because Hamburg

  • +1

My brother orders cheeseburgers minus the cheese, because he doesn't really like cheese, yet thinks the regular hamburger is different from a cheese-less cheeseburger.
I know, cool story bro, but is there fact in his (weird) preference?

    • I also know someone that prefers no cheese (though they do like cheese itself). It’s unusual but not unknown.
However I don’t think there is a difference other than the cheese.

    • +5

You, as his sibling, must make a big deal out of this. Place 10 separate orders, 5 hamburgers, 5 cheeseburgers.

Make him distinguish which are the natural hamburgers, and which are the cheeseless cheeseburgers.

      science.

  • Is there a limit of one burger for $1?

    • +4

The limit is on how much your heart desires them.

      • +3

I don't think my heart wants anything to do with them, but I might still grab a couple of dirty burgers.

      • +1

Are you sure? Afaik last time they had $1 hamburgers nationwide it was limit of 10 (sometimes got away with 20 if 2 people in car). If you are wondering why that was a problem for me, I froze them and microwaved when I wanted some.

  • +2

McDonalds Abbotsford on Hoddle street have a vip drive through deal “buy a burger or muffin and get a medium soft drink free”.
So with this deal you could get a hamburger and soft drink for $1.

    • That's 2x Monopoly tokens too… hmmm

  • Does anyone know when this deal ends?

    • It has already expired.

      • It's still in the app for me, but thanks anyway.

        • Sorry. I was wrong and forgot to say.

  • I see the app still list the $2.60 hamburger as well sneaky pricks

    • I thought this too, but it actually lists 2 hamburgers; one of them is $2.65, the other is $1.00, weird.

  • They can say no, but if you're nice it will help alot

I think it depends on the owner and management also.
From my experience with my fave local maccaz, being nice will even get you plenty of 'extra' items and customization completely free. Sometimes they will say "OK but we are meant to charge 50 cents extra etc, we will do it this time without charge though" .
By default, these cheap cheeseburgers do not allow adding extra onions or sauce etc, however if you order in app or at kiosk, then ask nicely for extra onions and sauce, they are generally more than happy to oblige. Great for customer service. The little things do certainly help to keep customers coming back.

Crew Sheet for the upcoming Promos attached. Enjoy!

    • I don't suppose you know, but do you have any insight into when the double Angus bacon deluxe is coming? It's been in the gourmet menu for ages now

      • Nope can't say I do as I haven't even heard of the double Angus bacon deluxe before.

    • Chicken McFeast and Waffle Cone. Nice

  • I got an email today about 6 nuggets for $3 when ordering from the app too. I don't know if even at $1 I would enjoy a hamburger. Need dat cheese.

  • No more McOZ $5 meals it seems …went in today (was still on the menu yesterday) and they said deal is finished, now it's $10 …. they said "try the $1 burgers, how many would you like, 5 ?"

not quite the same as McOz, small chips and small drink for $5.

The $5 McOz deal would have been running for over 9 mths before it finished yesterday.

    • Its only been a few months for the McOz $5, it used to be McFeast for $5, they do it with all their new (non gourmet) burgers to get people hooked and now its the $5 Chicken Mcfeast which starts in December. Although its a bit weird, because the McOz deal is supposed to end when the chicken mcfeast comes out.

Do you mind me asking which store you went to that denied this request?

      • Elsternwick in Vic ….was my go to morning tea as I worked nearby …

        • Sorry to hear about this, it will be fixed.

This McOz deal does not end until the 5/12/18, at McDonalds there will always be a $5 lunch deal.

Just a reminder if they say no again, the mobile app can be your go to place as the deal will always exist their.

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: thks, I always figured Mc Donalds would have a $5 meal somewhere to compete with HJ Stunner meal (Mc donalds no ice cream but bigger burger) and Subway who often have the $5 6" sub and drink deal, and Dominos value pizzas ….

            thks for update.

These hamburgers freeze & microwave very well. I bought 10 + 10 + 20 in three visits. The order for 20 got a comment when I picked them up!

  • it's showing as $2.70 in the app now :(
