[Not Honored] Villeroy & Boch: For Me Starter Set (Dinnerware Set) $55.95 (Was $299) @ Myer

Moved to Forum: Original Link

Moved to Forums as the sale price was not honored by the retailer.

Possible price error, it's an expensive brand so $55.95 is very cheap if they honor it. Free shipping if you order two or add anything else really to make it over $100 spend.

  • I am guessing it should have been 50% off ….. so they are missing a '1'…. Ordered it anyways just in case they do honor it.

  • +1

you'd be seriously lucky if they do honor it. The last time I ordered the cutlery set that was "less than half price", they cancelled my order.
    fingers crossed!

    • The cutlery set was more like a tenth of the RRP when that happened to be fair.

  • +17

Seriously 4 white plates, some bowls & some mugs rrp $299.00?? World's gone mad..

    • +9

Hes got a point. Even though its a big saving off RRP, I still felt dirty paying $55 for a few plates and bowls

      • +1

I don't disagree with the comment clearly the RRP and maybe even the discount is still inflated based on brand, I just don't see how that's a neg.

        • Apologies i accidently hit the neg button seems i can't undo..

    • +5

my wedge wood made in uk is a lot more for for a 4 place setting ….. though i do like corelli for $50 as it fits in dishwasher and is just as translucent as bone china as it’s made of white glass ….

when you get into top end table wear it’s stuff like no serated edge knives as they scratch the glaze, etc.

drink beer from glass not bottle or can, butter each piece of bread that you have broken off don’t butter a whole bread roll in one go …. now if i can just score an invite to buckingham palace and put all that knowledge to use ….. rather than wasted one day in old folks home on $1.50 per person per day menu plan…..

  • +1

According to pricehipster it was once $349, so $150 is probably a reasonable price and this is a great deal. Thanks OP.

  • +4

While this may sound like a good deal, I dont see value in it when I could get plain for cheaper for other brands.

    • +22

Not everyone wants to use crockery from Kmart.

      • +1

        fair point

      • +1

but kmart kettle is good ….

      • +1

Is there a functional difference or what? I mean they aesthetically look plain af so i cant see any benefit

      • +1

Stuff from Ikea is ok though.

        • All my main crockery is IKEA. For the price it’s pretty good. Some of the bowls have minor chipping after 18 months of use but otherwise fine.

  • +5

Free delivery if you've got Shipster as well. Probably an unnecessary purchase but I'm more likely to impress guests with this dinnerware set than the cheap Kmart ones I currently have!

    • +7

Not sure if guests are going to pick this up and check the underside for verification for impression.

      • +2

Depends on how snobby my guests are!

        • +1

That's where you pick and choose your guests carefully!

      • +4

As someone who used to work in the homewares section of a department store, I do this 😂

      • +13

If you can read this your dinner is on your lap.

      • I have actually had a guest do this

      • +1

most people check under the plates for brand when host isn’t looking, didn’t you know that ?

        • +1

Not with my guests, never happened. They don't give a damn about the brand of the plate, it is the food that gets their interest.

      • Never knew that it was a thing. You learn something new in ozbargain everyday!

No wonder i don't have much friends cos I use homebrand from Kmart :(

    • +1

You saved my day mentioning Shipster. I really didn't need 2 but wanted one :-)

      • I have a Shipster account but how do you activate Shipster as a shipping option and remove the $9.95 Myer shipment fee?

        • it's "meant" to show free based off their application. I've had issues before, contacted them… and they refunded me

          • @reno: thx for reply

I use the same email as Shipster rego

Run outta stock while I messed about! d'oh!

So for future ref if the retailer is in Shipsters list just proceed and they will refund the shipment cost later

    • I own a full set that are nicer than these ones and they are stunning. I literally do not care about the brand, but I can assure you my guests know the difference when we have a bbq.

  • For what it's worth, I had an old Villeroy dish that lasted for so long that it went out of style and went mysteriously missing and replaced. Not sure if current batches are as good.

    • Better Call Saul!

    • A cheap plate from Kmart would last decades.

  • +1

Got my order in for 2 sets for fee shipping.

Probsbly cancelled like their last price error.

Oh welll, it's a bit of excitement wondering if it's going to be honoured

  • +1

Purchased 2 for free shipping, fingers crossed!!

  • Thanks OP. Got two sets. They are very good quality. I was in the V&B shop in Germany last week, and it costs a lot more than $55 over there.

  • +1

Just ordered 6. We will see what happens

    • You're keen.

      • +4

        I do what I want

        • :)

        • JAH rulez, mon!

    • +2

Yeah, someone sells them on Ebay for $210…

      • +1

Planning in advance actually. We regularly entertain 20 + people so need a few sets :) plus got to allow for some breakages

        • +4

          I don't have 20 friends :(

        • +1

obviously you don’t live in inner city melb or syd …who can afford space for 20 guests …if they need to be seated.

      • +2

        To be fair… his sold 2 in 2 years @ $184 and $210. That's a long time.

    • +5

      Just ordered 6.

      High yield investment? :-)

    • +1

      Step aside Broden

  • +3

Don't forget 4% cashback on Shopback and Cashrewards bringing it down to $53.72

    • Darn, good point.

    • +1

Damn. Forgot about that. I'm always forgetting these things! #@#*&!

      • I would remember it while ordering trivial things like USB cables, but then forget about it while ordering something like a laptop.

  • i grabbed 2 …8 places is enough ….. my wedgewood doesnt get used, corelle is my daily plate set, if they honor at this price and it fits in dishwasher it will brighten kitchen and it’s spring ….. or i can use it for a greek function ….smash plates.

    • I love my Corelle. It's so light and stacks so well. We got given a nice set of some expensive brand at our wedding but haven't even got it out of the box yet.

My only gripe is that the bowls are a bit small. Need to get some larger alternatives.

  • Anyone got one recently, my order seems to be hung up at the address stage?

    • +1

Yeah I had a couple of issues, had to refresh it and go back and fwds a couple of times before it worked.

  • Don't forget 5% off myer cards at Macquarie bank marketplace. Bring it down close to 5% as well as cashrewards.

    • Cashback is not applicable if the payment is made by giftcards - apparently

  • Is V&B better than Noritake?

    • +3

Emu Bitter is better than VB, I can tell you that much.

  • +2

    Free shipping with Shipster.

  • free delivery through shipster

  • +1

    This will be cancelled

    • +1

O thou of little faith, why dost thou doubt?

      • I really hope not, but the website says "up to 60% off", at a maximum 60% off these would still be $120. It's a pricing error, maybe they honour it, but I doubt it.

Give it a go - worst case you'll get your money back in 7-10 days.

  • i’m still waiting for the mis priced chargers from office works ….

  • Nice. Saved an additional $3.36 via RACQ rewards egift card. It will be more hassle if it gets refunded though…

  • Received a refund of $9.95 through PayPal. I don't have Shipster so it's odd that I had shipping refunded. Anyone else had the same happen to them?

  • +7

Some really good prices on this brand across a few items. Scotch whisky carafes down from $219 to $30!

    • +2

      https://www.myer.com.au/shop/mystore/urban-nature-fruit-trav…

There's this fruit thing as well… it's original price is insane :O

      • +2

I bought this fruit thing as well…. just add it to the cupboard of useless crap i own

      • Another great pressie item. $13.39 with CR. Scored.

    • Thanks Johnno. Bought 2 of the red wine decanters for $16.75 each with CR and Shipster plus the whisky decanter for $29.68 with the shipping and CR. Not a bad reduction from $219! Will make nice cheap pressies.

    • Ordered this, it was also cancelled. It was worth a try :-(

  • Dinner set now out of stock.

    • That usually indicates that they’ve noticed the pricing error. Probably expect them not to honour orders made.

      • +12

What is the indication when something is sold out then?

        • -1

          Same but different

  • Currently unavailable is showing now … fingers crossed that they honour it.

  • Party is Over…

  • +3

Ordered two. Don’t even know what is in it.. LOL thanks OP.

    • +6

Early bird gets the worm. I hope I get my 6 sets.

      • I ordered a set, paid for it - got the thanks for your order but no confirmation/doesn't appear in my account.

Money has been taken, time to chase after it!

      • @ Rastafarian. ^^ gold comment hahahahaha

    • +1

Hand in your OzBargain card on your way out.

    • someone is butthurt

  • good luck…this will be like the cutlery set from earlier this year.

    • dohhh …i missed out on the cutlery set :-(

  • +1

Myer is really good at cancelling orders. Fingers crossed tho.

  • +2

Eating from plates and bowls is overrated

    • +2

in canberra they eat from a trough …. easier with a snout than eating from plates.

      • +1

        Underrated comment

  • +1

Don't bother, myer is notorious for price errors and cancelling orders.
