Android Phone Time Zone Changed

Hey everyone!

I woke up this morning to my phone having changed its own time zone. My daily driver is a Samsung S9+, it could be an issue with just Samsung phones but am interested in finding out more.

I am in QLD and the phone decided it was in NSW.

Anyone else have similar problems today?

Could you have been in nsw time zone all along, but not noticed it because today was daylight savings day?

    • I flew down from NT and have been in QLD time for a week.

      Daylight savings could've triggered it.

    Need more info.

Was "Automatic Date and time" enabled on your phone?

If so, your network provider will come into play.

Or had you manually set the date, time and time zone?

    • I didn't think of the provider.

I have automatic date and time on and was on WiFi all day today and yesterday. All it took was a quick restart and it was fixed

      • Believe it or not some network providers don't set the time correctly. Or at least that's what happens in ACT (SA/NT) time zone.

        • That just sounds lazy on their behalf

  • You must have turned on the "daylight saving" option in date and time settings

    • I had it on auto which might have affected it

  • are you with Optus or an optus reseller?

    • Yes, on an Optus plan

My Optus reseller on iPhone configured to network time messed up the time this morning in Queensland. It happens every year.

        • yeah, optus.

a couple of years ago I rocked up to work one day an hour early (along with nearly every other optus user due to their network adjusting the time settings)

I arrived in the city to a near empty train station. I was like weirded out. and other optus customers were walking around going "what's happening?1" . It was like The Quiet Earth.

@altomic: That's every day in Brisbane, quaint little country town that it is.
