KKDAY- Tokyo? What are you thoughts on them?

Hi all,

If you've bought from KKday for tokyo please tell me your experience and is it worth it? I see there is the metro travel pass unlimited for 1 day and its 24 dollars yet I check online and only 900 yen on https://www.tokyometro.jp/en/ticket/1day/index.html.

Also thinking about Skytree observatory - not sure if its worth getting it from KKDay for any deals or even the sims. Sorry its complicated just the website is so vast of deals! There is even food, but is it expensive!!

Maybe i should check out voyagin?

Thanks alot in advance Ozbarginers!

  • The prices are high. What are the advantages of going through an intermediary when you could do it yourself? Tokyo is full of English speakers who are eager to help and the signs are in English and Japanese as well, even the ticket machines.

  • I got the kkday USJ tickets. best deal ever! so worth it. worked out US$10 each for 2 adults + 2 kids.

    absolute score.

kkday, just like ozbargain, has great deals and then some average deals. do your research.

can you provide a link for the metro pass on KKday as they have several different rail deals.

they do have an unlimited metro 1 day for US$7.10 https://www.kkday.com/en/product/5989 which is the same as the tokyometro link you provided.

regarding Sim. - how many days are you going for?

I was there 2 weeks ago. I pre-ordered the "Welcome Japan" sim from nttdocomo. There is an unlimited 3g sim that costs ~¥800 (14 days of usage) and you can choose to pick it up at the Lawson convenience store just out side immigration exit doors (terminal 3) - just print out the order confirmation to show the staff. All your data heavy uploading/social media updates can be done with the Free Wi-Fi at your Airbnb. The sim was total fine for my time in Japan. will get that again when I next visit.

    • +1

Just be a bit careful of the free wi-fi at your Airbnb or even hotel. It can be dreadfully slow. Often the Airbnb host will do a monthly rental that only includes a certain amount of data and if you happen to visit after someone else who was heavy on the data it will crawl at a shaped speed. Sure, you could get in contact with them and ask for a replacement but I wouldn't bank on either an Airbnb or hotel as your bulk data point. A hotel I regularly stay with had terrible wi-fi speed last time I was there, whereas previously it was excellent.

      • I'm staying with hotels throughout my 10 days in Japan inclusive of Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto. I've been looking around for some good deals and KKday and Klook + voyagin are the only websites i found.

The unlimited metro seems pretty good since i will be using my JRPAss (from another topic) for the last 7 days and maybe use the metro unlimited for first 3 days. Considering it will only cost me around $30 for metro travels for 2 people.

        • As far as SIMs go, I have used lots and found them to be extremely variable. https://www.roamingabroad.com.au/product-category/japan-data… is a bit more expensive but had amazing speed that never slowed down. My better half used this one and I used a B-Mobile Visitor SIM which was basically useless.

Metro is a different system to JR in Tokyo obviously and is the best way to get to Disneyland.

  • I’ve never used KKDay but I imagine them to be similar to Klook. I’ve used Klook for many activities/sim cards for so many countries including Japan so I highly recommend them.
