I'm looking for a smart switch/plug where I can control to turn it on and off when I'm not at home via mobile app and able to monitor energy usage as well.
I looked into TP Link 100/110 product, any other products which you can recommend? I need to have at least 5 switch/plug so cost will be another constraint for me….
Any pointers on cost, brand, features or even alternatives…. ???
I have a xiaomi plug bought as a kit thru ozbargain & it's excellent. Never had a problem. It has all the features op is looking for.

Yes it does have monitoring.what you have linked is the right one.
Sonoff POW is going to be the cheapest. You can update the firmware to all kinds of things, but it depends on how much DIY you want.
Does this need to be fitted by an Electrician or can one DIY?
Electrician only. You are screwing 240v cables into it.
Make sure you buy the US type to suit Australian size standard and if your switched on you can DIY like I did in my house.
There are only two ways you can wire this, the right way & the wrong way. An electrician will wire it the right way & if you can think like him go for it.
