  • Wow write up says it has DTS X, which is the competitor for Dolby Atmos… That's a cheap price for something even attempting 3D audio!

    • I upgraded my old Yamaha YAS-101 to this after a similar deal.

TBH I prefer the sound of the old YAS-101. The surround mode sounds better and the audio on the YAS-108 seems a bit "muddy" in comparison.

      YMMV.

It's funny though… I bought a new TV (Hisense 75P8) and bought this expecting the audio from the TV to be terrible, having experienced this with my old Panasonic LCD (hence the YAS-101). The Panasonic sounded like mobile phone speakers.

Turns out the audio from the Hisense is actually pretty good and I could probably live without the soundbar.

      Still a good deal though.

      • Yeah I bought a hisense TV and the audio was horrid so I can see your expectation in just getting a sound bar straight up :)

As for quality, yeah wouldn't be shocked if it's not super clear given they would have about 5 drivers packed into it with no seperate sub… There'll be all sorts of funky EQ magic happening to get bass and dts:X going. Still good to see products attempting the higher standards at a more affordable price.

        • I'd definitely still recommend it.

Perhaps my older Yamaha Soundbar had some super-duper magic in it. Utilising it's 'Clear Voice' and surround modes it was (and still is) fantastic. It's still sitting proudly in front of the Panasonic in the kids play room ;)

  • You can also buy from TGG eBay store for $199.2 pickup and if you have 10% off eBay voucher bought from last deal, its $179.2.

  • Does anyone know how much this is retail? and when i mean retail, i mean usual special?

    • It seems to be dropping pretty quick, $199 is pretty much the special price now, might be worth waiting a bit longer as it could go $199 + 20% off at Bing Lee or TGG eBay in the future.

      • sweet, thanks for the reply!

        • or wait for yas-108 $99 when yas-109 out

          just like yas-107 before

  • Retail is $349. These have had really good reviews.

Any other option other than HN, as I don't want to support them if i can help it.

    • -1

whats done is done, it's all implemented and in effect so if HN is the best deal and you want it, just get it…

      • +2

I will fight buying from HN where possible and will let them know why when the opportunity arises (which is not often) and i should think anyone who want to purchase online from overseas should do the same.

    • Price match at JB?

      • +1

We're not JB, why don't you call and ask them and tell us?

        • Got a price match at the Good Guys.

      • As far as I know, JB doesnt sell these.

  • Tempting.

i bought one 5 minutes ago. Went to HN and they still have the price displayed as 349 and the salesman tried to sell me one at that price or a display piece 107b for an 'unbeatable' price of 198$! I told him about the price of the 108 on their website and he said "oh. let me check." "Ah that's right". Then he tried to sell me 'extended' warranty for 2 more years for $60!

I grabbed the sound bar and got the hell outta there.
