  Sweet champagne at $80 a pop?

  It would be hard to distinguish any champagne flavour or character underneath that much sugar, might as well stir a few teaspoons into a $5 bottle of Wolf Blass Eaglehawk Cuvée Brut (or similar) and pocket the other $75.

  Fun fact: champagne used to be quite sweet, and was served much closer to room temperature than today, so wide open mouth glasses were suitable.
