Help Picking Powerbank and Wall Charger for Travel! (Anker PowerCore+ 20100 USB-C Vs RAVPower 20100 Portable Charger)

Hi guys. Will be travelling to Europe and am a bit confused with the all the choices for powerbank.
I have narrowed these down to two

I believe I will need a wall charger as well, of which Anker seem to make some good ones.

I will be using my Nexus 6p overseas and would prefer to use my shorter USB-A to USB-C cable than my long ass USB-C Cable. Understand though that going C will future proof my devices. Also acknowledging I'll need a EU to AU Adaptor for my travels.

Would appreciate any advice on the above! Should be compatible with all pixel devices.

  • If either of those powerbanks do USB-C PD charging (and iirc both do), you'll need the USB-C cable to make the most of it.

    • I'm not sure if they do. The anker does do fast charging over USB-C but might not be able to power a laptop or anything. I'm using a surface, so I can't really power it with this anyway.

      • Fair enough - it'll charge your phone faster though. I've found that sometimes that actually comes in handy. All for packing a slightly longer cable too.

  • if you ever want to charge your laptop with it, the cygnett is the way to go https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/142595742096

  • the cygnett can do 45w, anker and ravpower looks like 15 and the aukey is 30

    • Cool, I'm in need of a 45w USB-C powerbank for the new mac

  • I have the Anker PowerCore+ 20100 USB-C. Apparently it does not fast charge iOS devices, but I don't have a USB-C to lightning cable to test it.

The USB-C port is powerful enough to charge my 12-inch MacBook, though laptops which draw more power might struggle.

The following article provides a summary of the different Anker power banks and what features they support:

I just found the above site via a Google search, as I could not find this information on Anker's own website. It does provide a good summary, though the links to Amazon seem to be affiliate links. I recommend also doing your own research before buying.

    • This website is amazing. Thank you.

    • Hi Zoltan,

I just got the PowerCore+ 20100 too and tried to charge it from 30% charge and it took over 13 hours. What's your experience as the advertising for this unit says it takes 8 hours using a 2.4A supply? What do you use?
