    Great lens, great price.
Easily my second favourite lens on the a6500.

    • What's your first? The 30mm Sigma?

      • +1

The sony 18-105 f4 has been my daily driver for a long time. It's just so versatile. That being said I have started to use primes a lot more recently. So when I say second favourite, it's a very close second.

        • I have the 18-105f4 as well and i completely agree. It's big, but with such a broad focal length it is perfect for almost every occasion. This 16mm will be great for landscapes and from what i'm seeing on reviews in youtube, great for videos/vlogging if you're into that.

          • @JLCC: I find the biggest weakness is lowlight. Typically, if I'm in lowlight, I'm either indoors or it's night time. With this being the case the majority of the time, a wide, fast and incredibly sharp lens like the sigma 16mm makes sense to have.

For anyone wondering this suits crop bodies, otherwise it's a 24mm on a FF.

  • Is this a good lens to get started with some Astrophotography? Or is the samyang/rokinon 12mm f2 a better option?

    • +1

I have the Samyang 12 but haven't used it for Astro. I've used it for landscapes and wide room indoor shots which is it great for in terms of capturing a wide FOV but also sharpness. What I find it lacks though is colour if that makes sense. Pictures straight out of the camera seem dull and need editing to make colours pop. If you compare it to any other prime the same shot seems to produce better colours. This might be something to do with this being a manual lens where auto lenses might have some software built in (maybe?) that can adjust photos as they save to SD.

Anyway I'm grabbing this to replace the 12mm as I want autofocus. A little over using manual at this point!

Thanks OP! Have been looking for this for a while - great prices! This + a couple of pairs of RMs from yesterday and my wallet isn't happy…

Thanks! Looking forward to testing this out on the a6000.

  • Picked one up also! Good find!
