870

120,000 bonus Qantas Points and $150 back to your new ANZ Frequent Flyer Black
When you spend $7,500 on eligible purchases in the first 3 months from approval.

  • I need to pay for my family flights which will equate to $5500 so I’ll probably meet the spend as have to pay for hotels etc in the 3 months

Anyone know how long it takes to get this card?
Can I cancel this card after a year?

    • Takes about a week. You can cancel after u receive the points. U don’t need to hold it for a year

  • Am I Robinson Crusoe in thinking credit rating downgrades from APPLYING for a credit card is totally NUTS as it has no bearing on your creditworthiness??. 'There ought to be a law' .. :-( .. !!

    • The theory they operate under is that anyone apply for an unsecured line of credit may be in financial trouble. So enough CC apps close together and they ask "why does this person need 50k of credit suddenly?"
Mortgage credit checks can make the rating go up- they make you look secure.

      • "They" - as in people in the finance industry? - if so, it's a stupid "theory" for professionals. Have "they" stopped to think that the person is doing it for points rather than NEEDING 50k of credit? - especially if the person's credit history shows they always pay their bills on full.

And applying/cancelling lots of credit card for points is perfectly legal (if maybe somewhat unethical)

So if "they" are penalizing the person with a bad rating for being credit card churners —- then okay

But if "they" conclude the person is "financially unstable" just coz the person is churning credit cards for points (and well within the rules in doing it) —- then isn't that a very naive outlook?

I applied for this card a few months ago and had $20k spent in a couple of months! Got 75k bonus points only but didn't pay $275 in fees. $275 for 45k points is a good deal of you have to spend that much.

  • Does having a ANZ Rewards Travel Adventures Card negate the bonus for this card? Doesn't specifically say "ANZ Rewards Travel Adventures Card". Anyone had any experience with this?

    18. Offer available to new and approved applicants who apply for an ANZ Rewards Black credit card account. This is a limited time only offer which may be withdrawn or changed at any time without notice. Not available in conjunction with other offers, packages or promotions, or when transferring from an existing ANZ credit card. Not available where you currently hold an ANZ Rewards, ANZ Rewards Platinum or ANZ Rewards Black credit card, or have closed, or qualified for bonus Rewards Points or a credit back on, any of those ANZ Rewards credit cards within the previous 12 months.

This is actually another bonus haven't mentioned in the post: "Plus 75 Bonus Status Credits"

Spoken quickly in a muffled voice

      Plus 75 Bonus Status Credits
Book and travel on two new Qantas flights by 30 June 2019. Eligibility criteria, T&Cs, fees and charges apply1

  • what's the benefit of status credits?

    • +1

Exponential increase in point earning rates and other lounge benefits, it will turn you into a point magnet

      • i prefer chicks magnet

        • points magnet makes you become a chick magnet as they’ll be thinking you’re a high roller in business class.

  • this is better because same points, no fee, but less spending requirement.

    • Yeah but 2 credit checks

  • I was wondering about eligibility for either past or current customers: "Not available where you currently hold an ANZ Rewards, ANZ Rewards Platinum or ANZ Rewards Black credit card, or have closed, or qualified for bonus Rewards Points or a credit back on, any of those ANZ Rewards credit cards within the previous 12 months"

In terms of cards you currently hold, it is interesting that it doesn't mention the ANZ Rewards Travel Adventures card, but does include the other 3 of the 4 in the ANZ Rewards family, and doesn't include the low fee cards, or the other frequent flyer cards. But obviously if you recently signed up to any card that gave you points, then that is an exclusion. I currently hold a Rewards Travel card, but from >12 months ago, so I'm hoping I'm eligible

How long does it take for bonus points to come through after you have reached $7,500 spend?

  • Has anyone applied using the old link https://www.anz.com.au/promo/personal/credit-cards/ib-freque… recently and successfully got the bonus points and no annual fee?

    • Sorry - where does it say no annual fee in that link?

  • Isnt this a great deal, as it would leave you open to apply for a separate AMEX card also so you can get even more points!

  • I'm not sure if this is a better deal, or the other one ANZ has for Virgin points:

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/422074

Assuming you qualify for both - and view Qantas and Virgin Velocity Points as equal - with the Receive/Costs that I feel are relevant (I know both offer insurances, price protection etc).

    ANZ BLACK
    Receive:
    - 120,000 Qantas points ~ $1200
    - 75 status credits
    - 1 QF pt/$1 (majority spend in AUS)
    - 2 free Qantas Lounge Passes
    Cost:
    - Annual Fee: $425 - $150 = $275
    - Need to spend $7,500 in 3 months

    ANZ Rewards Travel
    Receive:
    - 80,000 Velocity Points ~ 800
    - 1 free return flight ~ 300
    - 0.75 Velocity pt/$1 (majority spend in AUS)
    - 2 free Virgin Lounges
    - no foreign transaction fees
    Cost:
    - Annual Fee: $225
    - Need to spend $1500 in 3 months

It seems like the ANZ Rewards travel is better, but I just can't help but feel like "wasting" my $75k+ income by applying for a card needing a $35k income.

  • is there anyone here with an ANZ account who could tell us if there is any ANZ offers at the moment for existing customers with $0 annual fee and points ?
    Thanks

    • +1

Just had a look mate and nothing at the moment. Only the reduced annual fee for the ff and rewards cards. There is an anz platinum card offer with no annual fee however no bonus points.

      • thank you for checking, I need to be a bit more patient, next deal will come eventually :)

  • If I have the ANZ Rewards Travel Adventures Card am I still eligible for this card?

    • Yes should be able to, have noticed T&C have changed to below:

Not available where you currently hold an ANZ Frequent Flyer, ANZ Frequent Flyer Gold, ANZ Frequent Flyer Platinum or ANZ Frequent Flyer Black credit card, or have closed, or qualified for bonus Qantas Points or a credit back on, any of those ANZ Frequent Flyer credit cards within the previous 12 months.

Makes no mention of rewards cards.

  • Anyone know the timeframe for the 75 status credits to be posted after completing your flight?
