PODCAST

Brand new Dell Ultrasharp U2718Q

Good price for the apparent successor to the P2715Q. Even has 'fake' HDR.

Cheapest I've seen for a brand new unit.

New firmware available which apparently sorted out the previous issues with colour

  • Good price. Great monitor. Paid almost $671 ~2 months ago & had to buy 2 to get that price per unit.

    • I paid 703 1 month ago, feels bad

  • "fake hdr", 8bit+FRC is more than plenty. True 10bit panels are also incredibly expensive.

The lack of even freesync on this makes me sad =( I realise this isn't meant for gaming, but still.

    • True 10bit panels can be expensive. Not always though. I remember the U2410 had 10bit and it was only around $800.

  • Is this too hard to read with 100% scaling @ 50-60cm?

  • I'm using this. It's quite nice. I couldn't afford the UP2718Q version with 1000 nits and true HDR so this will have to do until that one becomes affordable.

Dell will also be giving you a credit voucher worth I think 5% of the value (ebay list price, not final price). I got $45 credit towards a future purchase when I bought mine.

    • How did you get the 5% credit voucher? I bought this and didn't get anything like that.

      • It will come in your email after a week or two.

  • Have this monitor paired up with a PS4 Pro. The colours and detail is amazing with 4K HDR titles.

  • +1

Have the smaller version of this monitor and its great. The U2518D with same specs. Just lower QHD (2560x1440) resolution. HDMI 2.0 port needs to be enabled and used if you want to use HDR. Displayport 1.2 doesn't support HDR. EG play HDR supported games, watch HDR video clips or 4K UHD videos.

Also find it more convenient to use the rear USB charging port rather than the left side one. Especially if you have a multi display setup where monitors are close to each other.
