  • Beware with these TVs - they appear to be good value for money, but my 32" Sanyo is probably 6 months old and has been in for repairs three times - and one of the issues has re-appeared.

    • +9

It's hard to generalized because of 1 defect product. My sanyo tv has been doing fine for the past 3 years. Still, thanks for your info

    • -1

A single TV issue doesn't mean much. There are people out there who could say the same for their Sony or Samsung.

My Sanyos have been brilliant, and they have a very low failure rate.

  • +4

yes yes theres always the dud ones that complain and the ones that last forever never come out to say a word, u get what you pay for. but this is good deal

  • +7

Sanyo is own by Panasonic, their QC should be decent. Very good price.

    • +2

      o rly?

    • -4

Yes, it is now owned by Panasonic. However, it a basic performance brand in my opinion. I own a 24 inch Sanyo full hd lcd and find it has a significant amount of motion blur. As a score out of 10, it deserves a 5. My 2 cents.

      • +7

You cant judge how good the 40" is going to be by your 24".

Unless of course you can prove that they are the same electronics and LCD panel generation….

        • The Sanyo model I bought at Big W is a 24XR10F. Dick Smith is offering a 40XR10F.

        • +1

          @john
Doesn't mean they have the same insides (and outsides I guess). For example the Dell U2410 is very different from the Dell U2311H (although they're monitors not TVs, same idea with the panels etc)

    • I think Sanyo's LCD TV may be manufactured by some unknown factories but uses a Sanyo logo. Unlike Sony, Sharp or Panasonic whose LCD TVs come out from their own factories. But considering the Japanese Brand QC it shouldn't be too bad.

    • +1

Wow. you learn something every day.

"By April 2012, parent company Panasonic plans to terminate the Sanyo brand, however it will be remain on some of the products where the Sanyo brand still hold value to consumers"

      • I'll miss Sanyo. All my Sanyo products have been fantastic.

  • +5

I understand this one of the better ones amongst the cheap brands. Feedbacks are generally good.

bought one at the same price 6 months ago in DSE, no free surge board and cable though, good quality, working fine.
The extended warrenty option is a good choice.

  • I saw this TV at Penrith Westfield DSE for $444 with the surge board and HDMI cable on Thursday

Its not a bad brand, but personally I would spend the extra and go for Soniq from JBHIFI. Currently they have a 42" FullHD LED tv for $798. They use Samsung panels and have a fantastic in house warranty service if needed.

    • +6

      Soniq isn't as good

      • +5

I'd even argue Soniq is worse than Sanyo.

        • +2

Soniq is a new brand while Sanyo is a very established brand

        • -1

Agreed with last 3. Sanyo is well established as a great "cheap-end" brand. Soniq are trying to be the same, and very well may be eventually.

      • I have a Soniq 42" LCD (no LED), and it was damn good value for money. Having a USB port on a TV like this is such a good feature.

Does the Sanyo one have a USB port?

        • According to the OP yes it does have one. USB port is a good idea, although personally I stream from my server to PS3 instead….

        • yup and it plays avi. divx, rmvb, mpeg, mkv codec etc.

    • that's dumb

  • Nice price. Put full HD in the title please? Seems important :)

  • Seems like a good find! Currently it's selling for $598 without other freebies. Has a lot of good reviews too. http://dicksmith.com.au/product/GE6102/sanyo-101cm-40-quot-f…

At $549, the price is comparable with 42 inch Vivo for just the tv. Vivo don't have that many functions and only 2hdmi and unable to record. But one reviewer said the sanyo can only record up to 4GB (1 hour?) because of fat32 limitations. http://dicksmith.com.au/product/GE6162/vivo-106cm-42-quot-fu…

I was thinking of buying a 40 inch Vivo at $499 yesterday and lucky didn't buy.

  • Has anyone played xbox 360 on this tv? How was it?

Wish this bargain is for Sanyo 106cm (42") Full High Definition LED TV LED42XR10FH

  • sanyo is a japanese brand and made in japan, not as popular as sony but still just as good.

  • I have one of these guys, absolutely legendary TV - great quality. I compared (in store) between this sanyo and a sony bravia 40" model on the same 1080p bluray and the sanyo came away as the winner for me, so I bought it.

Got home and googled the brand to check I didn't buy a lemon, and read on whirlpool that it's a great model - haven't had any problems with it since I bought it either.

  • +1

Is there a white version of this T.V. where I get to choose the price?

  • Hi, not that it necessarily means anything, but I believe panasonic is withdrawing the sanyo name and products from aus market as of march 31. As such a few good deals on sanyo to be had hopefully for cheap tv's

  • +1

I know Australia has higher standards and greater perceptions of the more heavily marketed brands (Sony, Panasonic, LG, you'd know some the ads off the top), but for example in the Japanese domestic market, Sanyo is well-perceived as a good brand (not known to be top of the line, but more middle market). Aside from user experience and word of mouth, it also really comes down to international marketing (which I've seen none of from Sanyo).

Point being, Sanyo's a good brand in terms the reliability you get for the price you pay - good for those that don't really change TV's often and just need one to watch stuff on occasion :) If you're looking for a more crystal clear higher quality panel, then obviously there are alternatives. So if you don't change TV's much, this could be the offer for you!

  • how much power would this 40" TV consumes ?
how much power would 40" TV LED version consumes ?

    • Diff is not much, probably cost you one more coffee fortnight.

      • hhmmmm….

        thanks!

  • good deal

  • I picked up the Sony Bravia 32" Full HD LCD tv with the PS3 and blu-ray bundle a few months ago. If it weren't for OzBargain, I would have picked up this Sanyo unit intead. It gets great reviews. I'm finding that 32" for my room is a bit too small - coupled with the fact that I predominately only watch tv show rips on my TV, therefore I don't need the best TV picture quality. I'm awfully tempted to sell my Sony Bravia and "upgrade" to this Sanyo unit.

    • 32" is the reccomended size for a bedroom. Hell, I get by with a 24". Im happy enough, just need to be fairly close.

  • I have bought this TV last week off Dick Smith at $555, do you think I can go to the shop and request for the bonus surge board and hdmi cable?

    • I suppose it's worth a try (this is Ozbargain :)), but I think their response would vary between stores based on how nice the manager is.

    • +4

if they say no, just tell them u will bring the tv back for a refund then you will purchase a new tv under this deal ;)

      • You sir, deserve a medal :D

        • +1

if they want to be corky ;) you could do the same right? :P

      • LOL

  • Anyone know if this can be wall mounted?

    • +1

yup it can be wall mounted

  • Is it just me or is there no link to the online deal? I can't seem to find it O_O

    • +2

it's on sale from 16mar to 28 mar.

      • +1

Ah, that might explain it :p
        Cheers

  • hopefully they'll have a sale on the 46" too

  • I bought the 46 inch version about 3 weeks ago, was looking seriously at the 40 inch as well. Both units went on sale at the time I was looking with the 46 inch dropping from $899 to $777 (just dropped from $888 last week to $799) for that weekend only. Big Box, only just fit in my car.

Picture quality is very good if using a good source through HDMI, SD and HD TV quality varies a lot but that's more the fault of the broadcaster. I have a WDTV Live and BlueRay rips are crystal clear, I also don't notice much blur with fast action/sport. I compared this unit to; Panasonic plasma's, Sony LCD's, LG LCD's, Vivo's(looked ordinary but video input at store only composite). Bang for buck, the 46 and 40 inch are good value.

Sound quality is not the best but I have a Yamaha sub/sat setup so that's not an issue.

40 inch with HDMI cable(around $25 to $50) and surge board is a decent deal at $555.00

  • it might not a no 1 brand in Australia, but in most ASEAN country, SANYO is one of the best and trustee electronic brand.

  • Sold out online.

    • +1

      It's back up now.

      • +1

        Thanks :D
Thought I'd be forced to go in-store to get this; but managed to score the free delivery AND use the $15 off coupon. This should do very nicely for an upstairs TV :)

  • +1

I bought one of these a few months ago without the additional extras. TV is still going strong. No issues at all with it

  • Mine is on backorder :<
Sucks, don't think it actually mentioned there was no stock when I ordered.

Last time this happened with a blu-ray from JB, it took over a month to get it :/
