LG GS108 Mobile $19 Telstra Locked Pre-Paid with $10 Value Recharge- Officeworks Clearance Item

100

I note this may not suit everyone, and as this is with Telstra & probably get a few negs for it, but heck if it helps someone else then so be it. As it is clearance item I cannot find the link for it in Officeworks, I think. Bought mine in Artarmon they had 3 left when I bought mine but not sure how many is left available elsewhere. The link is for the phone specifications only.

I bought this over the Nokia 1616(good fone by the way)as a backup fone as it has wireless FM radio and cheap as chips and I have a Telstra Sim so it works great for me as a spare fone in the glovebox or camping as it has:

  1. Wireless FM which was something not available even on smartfones as FM works great without needing to plug in the headphones for reception, had crystal clear reception where I was on the speakerfone.
  2. It is light, and more compact and very small in size, only 65 grams!
  3. Long battery life
  4. Quite a powerful torch
  5. can unlock by shopping at ebay for cheap unlock fee if required by some people or may be free on the internet, would appreciate if anyone would comment where to get them for free.
  6. It has very large dialing keys and bright blue lighted keypads, great in the dark.

All the best. Cheers!

  • Regarding point #5, this phone doesn't support 3G/NextG according to the specs. Telstra my have the greatest coverage when you include the Next G network, but does that still apply when you're talking 2G only?

    • Point taken, to be honest I have no idea if Telstra 2G is still better or worse than the rest if without their NextG, which obviously cheap handsets such as this does not support. I shall remove it just in case it is, was only speaking in general. Maybe some of you techno guys and gals can help here?

    • +1

Telstra 2G has the best coverage in Australia in general. 3G is mainly used for wireless data/Internet.

Telstra NextG is built on its 2G network (it is because Telstra has more base stations for 2G that they can easily add 3G equipment to the same base station).

      But, Tel$tra plans are.. well… expensive…

      • Nestsurfer, Thanks for the input, I thought that might have been the case. That's why I bought it as a "disposable" phone, if you are already on telstra then is a no brainer I think. Price and service has always plague Telstra hence there are many with anti sentimens, but hey since Vodafone problems they seem to out of the spotlight….no negs yet LOL! Was shocked to see some Vodafone OPS getting Neg just because they list the deal, which is kind of rough in my opinion only. Cheers.

  • Bought one today. Clunky interface, not that I was expecting much. Phone reception is great, like the poster above great disposable phone

  • wow this is a pretty cheap phone
