  • Who’s running this, I don’t see this promo on the CW website. I’m concerned it’s just to take info and won’t pull thru with the $10.

    • Seems to be run directly by eftpos

    • i saw the ads in store at CW.

    Is this really a bargain?

How can we be sure this is legit eftpos? Note that this is not on eftpos website. It's on eftposwin.

FFS wife spent like $70 there yesterday.

I've had a hard time spending my chemist warehouse evoucher bought thru the entertainment book. They don't accept them online and when I went in store it wouldn't scan. The salesperson said the system doesn't let them type in the code, and asked me to email it to them so they could print it on yellow paper to scan. Then it still didn't work for ages so I gave up. The salesperson clearly hated the things, and I'm a bit anxious about trying to use it again.

    • I heard you need to print out the code, mobile screen doesn't scan

How can I know I am 1 in 3000, when I upload it can say I Hv missed out 3000 slots already filled.

        • that is a good question…

        • +1

          You're not meant to.

      • +1

mobile scan works, just make sure your mobile screen is landscape mode so the barcode is bigger so it scans better.

      • I handed him a printout since I don't like other people handling my phone. He didn't ask to try from my mobile so I assume in his experience it isn't anymore effective.

    • Ask them not to hold the barcode too close to the scanner.

    • +3

All u need to do is make sure ur screen brightness is set to maximum and u don't use the old scanners.
As for the deal, I won't be jumping up and down as it doesn't seem very legit for only an extra 5% saving more then usual.

      • it's actually extra 6% ;-p

    • I had a similar experience at an old store, I went to a different one and they had newer machines and much more supportive and competent staff. I was able to use my vouchers here no probs. Even used multiple vouchers in one transaction. Happy with the outcome.

I suggest you give a different CW a try.

    • I tried to print it on landscape mode, then borrow the scanner from the cashier guy to do it myself.
Putting the paper on table surface, keeping moving the scanner up and down from the surface until it has a perfect distance.
Need to keep them parallel as well.

      Big PITA

I found that if I print the voucher from my iPhone using AirPrint the barcode comes out slightly blurry and doesn’t scan. But if I use my laptop to print to the same printer the barcode is sharp enough to scan.

  • for the first 3000 entrants.

The first 3,000 Eligible Entrants with an Eligible Entry will be delivered a $10 pre-loaded eVoucher
(“Successful Entrant”). Eligible Entries will be validated on a weekly basis (ie. one assessment of entries
per week of the promotion Period) until the eVoucher allocation is exhausted.

  • sorry for the stupid questoin.. is paywave counted as sav/chq?

    • googling tells me.. that:
If your contactless card is a debit card, the money used to pay for your purchase will come from the transaction or savings account linked to your card.

      — so money will actually be like chq/sav.. but will it be counted under this offer?

      • +2

Looking au my old receipt for a bankwest debit card, it shows as "credit account" even though it's definitely a savings/transaction account when paid via paywave. Perhaps actually pressing the savings/chq button is safest.

      • +2

It is still processed via the relevant card company- visa or MasterCard. Eftpos handle the transaction if you manually press savings or cheque.

      Nopes

      • +3

        Paywave is always credit function.
(Edit: sorry, meant to reply to parent, not this one)

EFTPOS only cards with contactless are out now, at least with some banks.

That said, you're right for Visa or MasterCard debit cards.

          • +1

@lbft: That's pretty interesting, never seen one of those cards. Also, the link explaining them on that page is broken.

However, "PayWave" is specifically the contact-less payment method offered by Visa. "PayPass" is the contact-less payment method from MasterCard.

            • +1

@Antares: Sorry, people use the terms so interchangeably that I just assumed you were speaking generally about contactless cards.

              • +1

@lbft: No need to apologise, it's true most people do but they are different.
Besides, I'm happy to be shown new technology in contact-less payments.

          • +1

@lbft: For all intents and purposes you're correct, but the RBA has required that merchants be allowed to direct transactions on MC / Visa debit cards through SAV/CHQ on tap.

This will happen within the next year.

            • @DogGunn: I knew it was supposed to be coming through but didn't know when. The only surprising things are that (1) it took so long to launch EMV EFTPOS network cards, despite what a shit of a spec it is, and (2) that it took so long for merchants screaming about higher fees on Visa/MC for change to come, especially since regulators in some other countries have been looking in that direction for a while.

    • thanks all..

    The first 3,000 Eligible Entrants
    prob gone by now…..

But I bet the promo doesn't get taken down in a hurry.

How likely is this still available

  • Love the comments on the Facebook page. A guy asks if this is genuine and the response is 'Yes it is'…OK IT MUST BE GENUINE THEN HAHA! It is actually a genuine deal from what we can see, but if it was a scam would they have admitted as such lol?
